Rep Power: 0 | Start looking at ways to promote your salon, whats gonna be different about your place compared to other salons. Phone book ads, software, electrical needs and location location location. Things like that, hope this helps in some way. |

Rep Power: 21 | Financing your beds??? You mean you are leasing them? Or are you profit sharing? Either way, I dont really understand the question I guess, because there is alot more to opening a salon then having the $$$, building and equipment.....You need to either rephase the question, or start researching some more....The sad reality is that 4 out of 5 Indoor Tanning Salons go out of business within the first two years....The one who succeeds, is the one that researched, marketed, advertised etc...the best!! This is a cut throat industry, come into this blind, and you will have a really hard time. Pick the right location, pick the right equipment, pick the right lotions, pick the right employees etc. |

Rep Power: 0 | jkonturas- you are a supertantalker. mind if i pick your brain? wondering if you could give me some insight on indoor tanning seasonality? I want to understand that and come up with "marketing ideas" to support low seasonality. I"m a potential salon owner newbie but have had other businesses in the past. any tips you or anyone can help with would be much appreciated. thanks |

Rep Power: 0 | k8tekat, It is a rough business and the fact that there are two tan seasons, makes it hard from June to January, but if are determined to be a success, you can be. I've been at it for over 2 years. One mistake I've seen another salon make was to try to do too much too fast. Get the basics down and then add things later. Caribbean Dreams is RIGHT, EFT's pay your bills in the slow months. |

Rep Power: 26 | If you are thinking about opening a tanning salon, please, look at a calender. The season just started. Do your homework and learn about this business for the next 9 months. Write a solid business plan. Look for the right location. Go to the tanning expos in Las Vegas in June and Orlando in November. Plan to open for next season. _________________ Support the PTAF. Jim. Rep Power: 21 | Jim is right..... You cant just go and blindly open a salon, and expect it to work.... You need to research, and learn about the industry. Plan on opening in October, and you will be ready for next season!! ;0 |
