Please remind me why I am in this business . . .

So a lady takes a crap in my Stand Up unit last night.

No, this is not the opening line to a bad joke. She tries to wipe it up with the towel and it ends up falling through the grate in the floor. She pulls one of my employees aside and says "I'm sorry but I'm not feeling well and I went poo in there" and splits out the door. I tell my employee that she must have misunderstood and ask if she has looked inside. "I'm not going in there" she responds and I tell her to grow up and go deal with it. At first we don't see anything and are so relieved. Then I get a flashlight and spot the stuff looking up at me from under the grate!

Well if any of you have a Sun Capsule, you know that there is no way to get under there without disassembling the entire unit. It's 7pm and my distributor is closed so I pour a bag of clumping kitty litter through the grate and go out for a drink.

This morning I have my service guys coming to help me out. I can't wait to see what this is going to cost me on top of the fact that it's the week before Spring Break and I'm turning people away from this unit.

I think I should send an invoice to Miss Poopie Pants. Or maybe I sould just look up her address in the computer and light up a bag of turds on her door step, ring the bell, and hid in the bushes while she stomps it out!

I have to laugh to keep from crying! Tammy.

We do feel for you / also feel sorry for the lady ,she must have been really sick .Wonder why she was out tanning?

Tammy, I had to laugh with you on this one. Not that I think it’s funny but the alternative emotions aren’t good for your blood pressure. I had the same thing happen in our stand up twice. First time we did an airbrush for a woman and then she went into the stand up. She left and said she would be back, sounded real pleased. When we went in to clean it there was a liquid on the floor of the unit. After some cautious investigating we determined it was urine. She tried to wipe it up with the towel and threw away the towel in the garbage can. I was in disbelief to say the least. A lot of things went through my mind to understand why someone would do this. Weak bladder? Sabotage from a competitor? Psycho? In the end (no pun intended) it didn’t matter why, I just had to get it sanitized. Can’t have the smell of hot urine in my stand up. So I went about breaking it down and sanitizing it completely. Nice way to spend a Saturday. Got it back together and felt pretty good about the fact it was as clean as the day I got it new. Yep, then a couple days later a really good, loyal customer was in it for about ten minutes after her session finished. I thought it strange since she is a quick in and out tanner. When she did come out she was in a hurry to leave. We don’t waste (again no pun intended) much time getting to dirty units and this time it was much more obvious there had been a problem. She did try to clean up best as possible but there was no way to clean a stand up with wire grates. This time it wasn’t urine. Maybe most people would get extremely upset about this but I didn’t. I wasn’t happy about it but by the time my disbelief turned into the realization that I’d have to break it down again I started to think about how she must have felt having done this. I know her well enough to know it wasn’t anything but an accident. In one of my few moments of empathy I forgave her and went to cleaning it up. I thought about putting up a sign that stated this is a stand up tanning unit “not a port-a-potty”. Of course I didn’t put the sign up, I just added a toilet paper roll. Just kidding on that last one, I still have to joke about it. I don’t know and don’t want to know what could top this in bizarre tanning stories but since I’ve been through it I think I’ll be able to deal with anything now.

Whoa~what a crappy way to end the night! This story beats all. Takes the term "getting dumped on" to a new level. You might want to think about providing a cork along with googles and towel.
