Rep Power: 24 | Thought I would start this topic to keep the other topics from being inundated with this wonderful experience. I realize upfront that not everybody has a positive experience about the film, but that's ok. I saw this film with 4 other couples and my wife of course, we went Saturday 02-28-04. We had advanced tickets and got there 40 minutes before the film,if you have large groups & you want to sit together, get advanced tickets and get there early. It's amazing, no English was spoken on the film, only captions but the place was packed. Language did not appear to be an issue. Eat before you go or get there early enough to get some popcorn or hotdogs before the film. You will not want to eat when the film starts, a since of respect falls over the place and one will feel a bit awkward eating while seeing how Jesus is being treated - those of us who are Christians take it personally so we view this sacrifice as being done for us. No one spoke during the film and the same "honor or reverence" was carried out through the lobby and out the exit. I only heard people talking in light conversation outside the building. This is not a film I would go see a second time but one I will own so I can view it when i need a reality check. I remember being small and singing "Jesus loves the little children", you don't know how much He loves them or you until you get this glimpse of what He did for us. OH _ By the way - The actor that played Jesus did not look as bad as Jesus did when he actually took on this punishment. How do I know, because the actor still looked like a man in the end and Jesus was not recognizable while he was on the cross. Isaiah 52:14 even as many wre amazed at him so marred was his look beyond that of man. His appearance beyond that of mortals. The New American Bible Translation What do you guys have to say about the film... |

Rep Power: 22 | The movie has been booked until monday and as they think, it will stay that way. Have talked to a few of my clients that saw it and I am amazed they have said basically the same thing you just did...WOW..I am not a movie goer so we will probably be waiting for it to come out on video. By the way sales are looking it will probabley be out on video before summer is here. |

Rep Power: 0 | Sonshine, (LOve your name) Ditto....Ditto....Ditto. I could not have said it better. When the film was over no one moved......just frozen for what seemed liked a very long time....only the sound of some people sobbing......then gradually and very slowly the crowd filtered out....much more slowly than the rush to get in an get a good seat. WHen I left....the next viewing crowded was lined down the corridor all staring at the wet cheeks of those headed out......Truely astonishing. I have only heard two critics of the film.....one who was Jewish and feared the film would cause anti-semitism to increase. I think Mel Gibson and others have done an excellent job of showing that Christ was sent here for that purpose and his life was surrendered....not taken. The other was from a lady who thought the film displayed an unnecessary amount of blood......I guess she did not understand that every drop of that blood was absolutely necessary! The Actor who played Jesus said it best when being interviewed after opening night....... "Those who do not like the film.......will probably not like the Book either". HT2 |

Rep Power: 0 | I saw it also on Friday-my feelings are the same as above. I would not see it again but I think it is a must see for everyone. Very brutal-you just wanted to scream at them to stop! And as a mother I cannot understand how Mary just stood by watching the whole time-she just knew it had to be. I agree it was very eerie leaving-no one speaking. I did not sleep well either-tossed & turned all night. I still have goosebumps when I think about it. |

Rep Power: 0 | I just saw the movie today. I'm glad I live in a small town, I didn't have to wait at all. I enjoyed the movie and was very moved. I have gained a new understanding and appreciate more fully what christ had to endure for all of us. Dying on the cross now brings more vivid images of just exactly what he endured for all mankind. And he had no sin. |

Rep Power: 0 | Sunbunny2, I agree...but as Sonshine referenced above, even with such realism in the movie, Jesus actually endured even worse than depicted(if you can imagine?). The Bible says in Issah and in the Gospels that once he made it to the cross he was "unrecognizable". I always thought that the term "scourge" referenced in the bible meant to discourage or to strike. It actually meant to beat with a Roman "Cat-o-nine-tails", a special whip as depicted in the movie, with 9 leather straps each having shards of glass and metal attached, designed to rip flesh. Hurts to think of it! HT2 |
