This site has always been fun and I feel in big part due to the lax atmosphere that has existed prior to "A fair warning". I have done a lot more reading than posting, sometimes just for the pure entertainment. Salon owners get tired of reading posts such as "Why am I getting red?" and "Should I tan with my underwear on?". Is this site really designed to address subjects such as these? I can honestly say I have never seen an ugly response to a newbie owner asking about the best bulbs to use in their tanning beds. Usually beginner questions get very few responses because seasoned owners dont have the desire or the time to address issues like these. This site should have a FAQ. All of the newbie questions can be addressed there. Are your bulbs pink or blue, where do you buy buck boosters, is it ok to tan if you're pregnant, all these questions can be answered there. I'm not saying that there is not a place for newbies here, just that part of the problem may be addressing these same questions every week. This site seems to be growing quite rapidly and an FAQ section is already past due. There are lots of owners here who take time to answer newbie questions, myself included, but after the same thing once or twice, I guarantee you I'm less apt to post a response. Thats probably the occassion where someone says "Hey dumba$$ do a search about "why are my bulbs blue" first. Even though this may not be the proper response, I can understand the sentiment. A sentiment partly fostered by this website's lack of an FAQ.

I think there are some on this site who are a little too sensitive, and while curse words are not acceptable and are apparently auto-censored, where is the line to be drawn on "offensive posts"? Just because moderator A thinks calling someone a retarded idiotic moron is not acceptable, does this mean Moderator B thinks its ok? Is it ok to call them an idiotic moron...how about just a moron? Maybe they're just dumb...is that ok? I understand the moderator's wish that we all just get along and nobody calls anybody anything and everybody's happy and best friends, but come on, is this realistic? We are all adults here, or supposed to be anyway...I cant vouch for those creating topics about Janet Jackson.
This seems like a bit of a witch hunt to me, initiated by one person who has gotten their feathers ruffled. He's backed up by a moderator who seems to have had her feelings hurt by the target of this witch hunt.
There has got to be a happy medium. I dont think a couple of outspoken members censoring and eventually parading around with the "hunted's" head on a spear is the answer.

one thing is a difference of opion.. and another is slandering someone because you do not agree with what they have to say... yes people should not be sensative and yes we are all adults.. It does not look good to an outsider ex the media who are thrursty for our blood to see this type of behavior.. and it has nnothing to do with hunting someone down, but rather getting the opinions of others as to what is good and what is bad..

As I've said before, I find that there is a lot of useful information here. I think it's up to the participants to weed out the garbage not moderators. As adults a few names here and there should be something you let roll off your shoulders and not whine about. Sometimes the forums get a bit out of hand and off topic, but who cares? Consider it an online soap opera! I don't logon here expecting to be seated at a board meeting? It's supposed to be informal and a realistic exchange of ideas with a bit of entertainment mixed in, not some stiff regulated executive meeting!

This is not about a stiff regulated meeting place. This is about the fact that almost every moderator here has received private messages from newcomers to this board who are afraid to post a question or any thing at all because of fear of being ridiculed. This is about people who think that every person who disagrees with them deserves to be insulted and made fun of just for the pleasure of it. This is about the fact that there are certain people who post here in a manner that is beyond what most people consider basic human decency.

Yes, there are times when I think to myself "What an idiot!" when I read someone's post. Do I normally post that I feel this way????? NO!!!!!! I simply answer the question or reply without adding all the negative personal attacks. I believe that is more mature than calling someone names or attacking someone's integrity just because you don't like the person.

Attacking a person simply because they spell a word wrong, I am sorry but that is bull. Attacking a person simply because they haven't done a search on a topic, that is bull as well. Let's face it, there is no spell check on this site, and for a newcomer, they may not know how to do a search. Is that a reason to personally attack someone?

I just think that everyone who posts here should think about how they would like to be treated and post in a manner that reflects that.

I just don't understand someone being scared to post? What's the worst that can happen? Be made fun of? This isn't 3rd grade. Stick and stones, defend yourself if you have to, or ignore it and move on, it's not the end of the world. Really.

Well said! There is absolutely nothing wrong with having fun. I like to laugh as much as anyone...but not at the expense of someone else's perceived shortcomings. Everyone, regardless of their experience, has something worthwhile to offer or they are just learning and want honest opinions. We all have our opinions and know what works for us. That doesn't mean any one person holds all truth or totally knows what will work for everyone in everyplace and in every situation. Just because someone disagrees with me doesn't mean they are an idiot...our lives and our businesses are different. We are here to exchange information that works for us and at the same time see if something that someone else uses might be adaptable for our situation. If we can learn to respect each other, then we can respect differences of opinions as just that..differences, not character flaws.

I believe it is safe to say that April is a big hypocrite and makes the Church Lady appear to be a wanton slut.

She has attacked people on a variety of sites - - - for spelling (Team88/Bad Karma/ Keyser) and anyone that corrects her on her overflow of misinformation...

I ignored her for the past few months - and ignored her private messages where she professed her 'love' for me.... I have found her 'style' like glass shards in the crack of my *** ~ ~ not appealing by any stretch of the imagination.... When she became a 'moderator' here - I knew what the future held for everyone.....

But spelling and retarded jokes aside - - - the ADVICE given by some of these people (April and Jersey) to people here is on the cusp of being CRIMINAL.... there is no law against stupidity - but there should be. And the Owner of this site should be worried about the reprisals of BAD INFORMATION coming from moderators (he cannot control posters - but Mods ARE his responsibility)...

Oh - and before I forget - stop all clients from standing on the equipment and burning the soles of their feet!!!! and Never EVER allow them to do handstands on the equipment either!!!

What would make me feel better is NOT being linked to you as a peer in this industry....

That is not an insult.

It is simply the truth.

Sheila,
It is not what you say, but how you say it...must everything be as overwhelming, abusive and outrageous as it is made out to be?

Taken from Sheila's post above~

Edited to reflect what I think people are trying to get across to you. Same information can be gathered from this edited post without the verbal attack as stated in your post above...

Same points gotten across...makes you appear much less hysterical and gives people the chance to experience your opinion without being put off by your demeanor.

Neon,
I get what your saying it's just words and defend yourselves or ignore it and it will go away.

Sheila is very smart and she has a lot of great information. Really though, sometimes don't people have to take responsibility for their actions? I mean maybe medication might be the solution here but most of the time these posts are a bit on the explosive/manic side don't you agree?

Why does a whole group of people, who for the most part communicate on a decent level with one another, have to learn to put up with the unnecessary verbal abuse on a massive amount of posts...It get's old real fast.

Not looking for her to get ousted, just think a lighter attitude would be a nice break.
