Maybe its just me or I am to country...but have you ever noticed that there are some snots on these threads. I mean I like knowledege, straight forward and simple. But do you ever find that some people really dont think before they speak. Our childrens worship, this past week was about how once we say something we cant take it back. She used a tube of toothpaste for the example. I wonder sometimes, if the things that are said on some of these threads, and the way they are worded, is this the way you talk to your clients. Just a thought.

Some people are probably a bit too passionate about certain topics, I'm probably one of them once in awhile. I suppose some of us have to learn to express our opinions and theories with a bit more tack. Don't want to the Simon Cowel of TanTalk.

Good point and one we need to remember. That is one thing that makes online difficult. There is no change in voice tone or facial expression to indicate that someone is joking or angry. We can try to indicate these things with smileys. You are right, some people just blurt things out whether online or in person; some people seem to think that their way is the only way. I also think some people aren't as good as others at expressing themselves in written words. We do need to be careful how we say things. Take a second and read what you wrote....Does it make sense? Is it respectful of someone else's opinion--it is okay to disagree just do it respectfully. That's why we are all here. We take other's ideas and opinions and personalize them for our situation. Everyone has something to offer. Let's be careful to not judge too quickly and take what we can use.

Yeah some people tend to be rude, but in all honesty, that's life! You get every walk of life and attitudes on these boards, but you have to take the good with the bad and sift through the crap when it arises...you have to remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and we are here to learn from each other and everyone's experiences...as Pam mentioned do not judge too quickly their is tons of valuable information out there and deep inside everyone is just a person who is passionate about this industry and its future, I know I am...

True BronzeBabe, I am very passionate about this industry as well. Once you have typed your comments take a look at them and see if there are any words that offend you if it was written by someone else. Try to take negative words and replace them with words that mean the same but not as threatening. For instance, I rarely use the word problem any more. Whether it is with my staff or my family. Problem indicates they have done something wrong therefore they immediately go on the defense as I'm sure I would. So, now I replace the word problem with concern or issue. Less threatening and it makes it sound more of what I feel. If I'm concerned about a subject then the person I am talking to about it feels that I am concerned about them as well. Not upset with them because they caused a problem. Just my little ways of trying to help make things nicer at work and with my own surroundings.

I understand and I thank you all for comments. But I can read some of these threads, and wonder if the person is having a bad day or do they have Bi-Polar, (not the lotion).
ONe minute they are having a conversation about the topic and the next the are on a vent blowing up. I love what I do, I am not a genius, I have many years of management and I did not get into this business just to make a quick buck. I did it because I wanted a clean and calming place to tan. Of course if I do make good money along the way, hey that is the bonus. Please all, if at anytime I seem to getting out of hand, let me know.
Have a great day.

My thought on this issue is this, Its hard to know expresions, tones when reading the threads! Sometimes things that are taken bad are not always ment to be expressed that way! I know many times I have had this happen I will say something with not 1 bad thought in mind just an opinion, all the sudden BOOM I am the Wicked Witch!

I think it's a matter of just common courtesy. True - you can't tell expressions, tones, etc. But, it's easy to see how some threads/posts are not the most courteous. I have to admit, while I enjoy the information provided, I have been truly taken aback by some posts here. We are all (or should be) professionals - and we should try to remember to act as such. JMHO.

love, alarris
