Best of luck; my dad has had a trachiotomy (sp) as a result of years of smoking. What bothers him most is not necessarily how it has changed his life, but how it is changed EVERYONE elses life. For Christmas this year he is hoping for a new gadget that allows people in his shoes to speak without covering their trach (sp). (He has a meeting with the doctors soon to see if he is an eligible candidate)

For Christmas this year, I hope Mitzi and everyone else is able to quit smoking!

Mitzi,

The first 36 hours are the hardest...

You have DONE THAT!!!!

It is all down hill from there.

Stay on course and you CAN beat it.

Thanks for all the support... at 9:30 tonight will be 48 hours. For the past hour I have been really jonsing for one. Been walking around with a straw in my mouth. Think that was a bad idea,, as soon as I took it out, I was fine. But I want a beer and if I do a beer then the crave will come back

You are my inspiration!! I have been considering trying to quit after the holidays. I have actually quit a few times-and did not smoke for approx a year each time-but then I would smoke one thinking it was ok since it was just one which of course led to another and another and . . .
You can do this!! I will be on the wagon with you soon!!

I feel for ya Mitzi.. My hubby has been slowly "cutting" back.. he is down to 3 a day... Im gonna kill him before he quits... Major mood swings!! I think he would have been better to do it your way ... instead of cutting down.. dragging me thru months of moods instead of a few weeks! urgh! Keep up the good work,,, it will be worth it!

Great Amy, I sure could use a buddy in this. It really hasn't been all that bad so far. When I get a real urge I just walk it off even if in circles. LOL

Tiki, I would never make it by cutting back. Had to take the plunge.

Actually I have been thinking on it for at least a year now. But in Cancun I smoked so much that I lost my voice. That is when I said when I get back home I am going to quit. So I finished off the 4 packs I brought home and slapped the patch on. So not only did I have a great time in cancun but it inspired me that last little push to quit. Now if I can just make it another day and another and another.

Still hangin in... I did have a slip on Saturday night. Dang CCLs got me. I drank a few and had a couple of smokes... I am happy to say that they sure didn't taste the same But after smoking for so long I guess 2 wasn't so bad. Normally that would have been 20 while drinkin.
