Frank:

We are almost ready to unveil our "new and improved" TSO website that will have a lot of new "science of tanning" information that I hope everyone will find helpful. Detailed data (that will be easier to access) on (1) skin typing/subtyping, (2) informed consent forms, (3) exposure schedules, (4) drugs that cause photosensitivity, (5) policy and proceedures information, and, (6) sunlamp compatibility will be available.

In addition, we changed the registration information required in order to make sure that only members can post questions and/or information and we are now taking the protective step of verifying the accuracy of the registration information.

All that you need do is re-register and you will then be able to make as many posts as you choose to.

Very soon a letter will be going out to all members with a "PIN" (Personal Identification Number) that will further restrict the TSO website to "confirmed" members.

The TSO website is dedicated to the dissemination of current and factual information about the science of tanning. It IS NOT a "general purpose" website (there are plenty of those around!) and perhaps that fact should be kept in mind.

Since you took time out of your busy schedule to attend the FDA meeting, I hope you appreciate the time it took to prepare Reports 1 - 10 posted there. Report 11 - Scientific Summary; Report 12 - Political Summary; and Report 13 - Where Do We Go From Here (that will discuss the forthcoming TEPRSSC meeting) will be posted shortly.

Bruce,

The tech post I made over there was about not using mV output as a key UVR indicator. It's still there (I think). The ones that got booted were more 'general purpose' in nature, albeit a bit silly.

According to two above, changes to 'registration' are in the works. Frank - at least you will go back in. I could tell from meeting you in Rockville that you're a good guy & don't spin politics enough to warrant 'banning'.

If nothing else, this thread has in most cases trippled paragraph count from everyone.

I normally don't even read these 'insult' threads because I don't have time plus it disturbs me to see adults acting like 7th graders in a shoving match. I am here today because someone asked me to read it. Having said that, since I don't follow the insults and personalities, I think it is time we get to the business of tanning. I have so much improving of my own to do that I really must focus on that instead of what someone I don't even know is saying or doing. I have learned so much from most of you. I generally skip anything too long or with a bunch of caps or bold typeface. My motto is K.I.S.S. That is all my little brain can handle--short attention span. C'mon, let's get back to tanning, we have so much to do...

Pam:

You hit the nail right on the head!

We should take time today to give thanks for being fortunate enough to be involved in this wonderful industry of ours.

The regulatory issues that face us are formidable and we can each choose to be part of the solution or part of the problem. I think everyone on this website chooses the former and that is why I am honored to participate here.

On the other hand, we have enormous opportunities to grow and prosper if we can (1) make sure that the pending regulations don't damage us, and, (2) get the facts about the benefits of sensible, moderate and responsible exposure to UVR out to the American public.

We have work to do in 2002 (and beyond)!

I agree, with everyone!

when I registered on Tan Talk someone called and asked me if I was a salon owner, I said yes, we had a chat about the fact that I only have one bed, thus not making me a solon. I explained, I live in a small, small town, with two small boys, I pay the state, health dept, smart tan, tso, etc. And here I am. I have learned a great deal form the folks here. I do look at the other bord, It's all together different.

I am surprised, that professional owners, with several beds, have the time to be the "bully" on the block.

MJ-I love grandpa's quote.

let's get TANNING!!!!!! Our season is here.

FYI:

We finally got rid of the "registration" bugs.

Don

PS: The "bug" was simple to fix after our consultant and UBB figured out what yours truly did wrong. Medical jargon I can handle but this website stuff is way above my limited intellect![ This Message was edited by: Don Smith on 2002-03-04 21:19 ]

Hi Sheila. What's up with bringing up all of these old posts? Seems like all of them are nasty towards somebody. What's going on??
