Context: Bob on Suntanning as accused me of have a personal vendetta against Max Recone stemming from an encounter he witnessed on my recent trip to Ohio.

Bob,
You are reveling a personal encounter that I had with Max Recone that I have declined to
discuss openly. What happen is between us and those who were there, I would prefer that
not be brought up again.

You seem to believe that this is in come way the cause of my recent postings critical of
Cal Tan. It is not, I have constantly taken on the major manufacturers and distributors in defense of my customers. I believe that the best examples are from my personal experiences.

I have been always highly critical of ETS's policy to sell Australian Gold in Florida retail stores. I have posted countless times that I believe salon owners should consider that before they stock and sell their products. I see their products every time I am in my grocery store!

I was very critical of Cannibalism, when one of my customers was having problems with
Express Tan in Jackson TN. I posted extensively on distributor and manufacturers owning tanning salons that compete with their customers, that I thought that was wrong.

On my trip to Ohio to train for Steve Miller, I was in his salon as bottle after bottle of Cal Tan product was being used by his customers that had purchased them at a Beauty Supply. Despite the fact Cal Tan has claimed they have cut off all beauty suppliers (Let’s see what they do with Industry Source selling to not salon owners), their product is still on the shelves of beauty supply’s around the country.

Did my encounter with Max, make me realize that I had grown soft on my message why
salons should private label and deal with my company. YES!

Why had I grown soft? Because, I wanted to like and respected by my peers in the
industry. My hard line stance on these issues had caused rifts between me and many of the biggest players in the industry.

What I realize with a little help from a great friend of mine is that the only people that matter are salon owners. What salon owner’s think of me and my company is vastly more important than I am liked and respected by competitors in the industry.

I am will to fight the hard and unpopular battles to protect salon owners profits and their business. Issues like, Diversion and Cannibalism are not won overnight. I think the issue of Compensation for salon owners the victims of major brand name diversion is just as important.

It is not personal, it is the right cause and Bob, if you were not trying to protect Max so hard you would see that.

I ask the readers of these boards to judge the closed thread for themselves to determine
what they think about this issue. If it is personal or professional.

This post is being posted on every board in case it is deleted or moved on Suntanning.Com.

Greg:

What you are observing is the fact that the "oldest" website is becoming more like the "controversy for the sake of controversy" website every day. It is hard to tell which of them will "stoop the lowest" in order to "drive eyeballs" to their website.

That's why "friendly people" and "men who are handsome" and "women who are beautiful" have increasingly turned to www.tantalk.com for a "civil" discussion of the issues of importance to the indoor tanning industry. [Note: And that gets to the heart of the matter that is "driving" the other websites nuts; the advertisers will also increasingly turn here to "reach" the elite of the indoor tanning industry.]

Congratulations, Michael Chunn (and the staff of www.tantalk.com and the wonderful moderators here!) for your professionalism!

Don

PS To Greg: Read my post on www.naatso.org in the "Forum" (Straight Talk Section) titled "Ignore The Pi**Ants" and follow my lead. You have steadfastly looked out for the best interests of tanning salon owners and EVERYBODY who pays attention to what is going on in the lotion business knows that! Therefore, you don't have to justify yourself (and your actions) to anyone!

I just want to say that I posted a response to the suntanning bashing of Greg and in return I have been given a lot of crap ever since.

I first read the post about "working in Steve Miller's Salon" here on tan talk... where is where I usually only stay at... not that I don't think the information is good at other sites... it is just that (like I have said on many occassions) this place feels like home, I like the fact there is a salon owners only forum and we like to have a good time here and help each other. Not to say that there isn't some bad things here... or that everyone is perfect all of the time... I just like it here.

I noticed after reading that thread here... and I actually posted a comment about his statement after I read it... It just seemed to be another effort to keep us happy... then I went to tantoday and read the same thread... and it was not bad either. Finally I went to Suntanning and spent a long time reading that thread and I was appalled at the bashing and hatred I saw... and what bothered me most was some of the people there actually post here.

So that being said... I am boycotting those other boards, their chats ot any other event they have due to the fact that I do not have to be treated that way.. I have a choice and I choose to be here... with the "beautiful people" ... who like to watch ER and Nascar and chat everyday if we like

Thanks for all that the moderators and sponsor do to make this place great for the Salon Owners!
