I love that line! However, for you ladies that pay to have your nails filled... I have a question. First, how much do your fills cost? Second, how much do you tip? Do you tip based on how well they do? Or do you tip based on how much the fill cost? Or is your tipping based on other factors?

I don't know if I'm tipping enough, too much or for the wrong reasons. Why does it matter? Because she does a heck of a good job, the conversation is great, the atmosphere is comfortable and I love the service I get.

Mine is 25.00 for a rebase. I tip 5.00 each time. I have been going to the same girl for 5 years. It was 20.00 for quite awhile before she raised it. She wasn't going to charge me the 25.00 since I am a regular but I felt she deserved the raise!

Like you, I enjoy the conversation and she does good work.

Well, I have silk wraps not acrylics so i don't get a "fill". Silk wraps and their maintenence seems to be unknown expertise in central/south jersey, but a large presence and relatively common procedure in north jersey. So, a full set of silk wraps is $40, and a wrap "fill in" is $40, but weekly or bi-weekly maintence is is $15. I have been going to the same place for 10 yrs and enjoy the fact that there is NO conversation (or very little involving me, they speak Korean most of the time). They know me, they fit me in whenever i say it is me on the phone, and they always tell me to have a good weekend no matter what day of the week it is.

I tip $3 on every $15 manicure, 20% of my $40 one, and 20% of my sometimes indulgent manicure/pedicure combo at $28. ALWAYS. I always have the same person do my hands and i appreciate that she always fits me in, AND does the fastest manicure in history because i am ALWAYS in a hurry.

I was blessed by the graces of the Lord to have long natural growing, healthy nails. I always have people ask "Are those real?" Yeap, 100% real.
So I have to do all of my tipping to the Lord. And to think that my old nasty bad habit was biting them down past the quick. Who would have ever guessed?

Oh Shannon, I am so envious!

I have never been able to grow nails. They split, crack, and layer off. Horrible. The ONLY time they were ever nice was when I was pregnant and taking those super vitamins they give you. My nails were sooo strong, my hair was healthy and it was ok that I got fat for a few months! Wonderful time in my life

I also have a little secret that keeps them looking like that and keeps them thick and strong...eat JELLO. Ther keratin in the jello helps your nails grow stronger. I would tell you what the keratin is, but then you would think that it was sick. But it's not. I swear!

My nails (and hair) grow quickly too. B Stress Complex vitamins, I can tell a difference when I don't take them. Funny how it's the dead parts of my body that are the healthiest.

I get my nails done faithfully every two weeks by the same person for the past 6 years. She charged $16 for fillins and after Jan 1 raised her price to $18. I have always given her $20 everytime, she never charges me extra for a broken one or anything. I tried to give her more this last time since she raised prices but she wouldn't take more than $20 so I am going to have to think up something extra every once in a while.
Ok, I think this is it....did I get another smiley??????You guys are all SO TAN!!!
