Rep Power: 23 | I have a rwo year old who loves to hide things. I have actually grown acustom to finding strange things in strange places and have learned some of her favorite hiding places (missing anything? Check all air conditioning vents and inside the box of tampons under the bathroom sink). Sometimes this is really cute, sometimes I find sippy cups with clabbered milk inside shoes. She topped herself today. In one of the lower cabinets in my kitchen I keep large pots and other items that are rarely used. One of those items is a tortillia warmer. When I moved it out of the way to reach behind it I felt something inside. Innocently I opened it and felt a buzzing swarm of gnats immediatly rise out of it. I freaked out and ran from the kitchen. I don't remember yelling but my husband swears I did. Thankfully he was there and saw inside of the warmer was a very old pear that had been feeding these gnats. He put the lid on it and ttook it outside to the dumpster, but it was too late, my house is now covered in small, annoying little gnats. I have since bleached my kitchen and dining room but they still find plaaces to be. How do I get rid of these things? Remember the topic started by Forever Tan about the bee? I am one of those insect phobia people myself and these things are freaking me out! shallee |

Rep Power: 23 | they feed on fruit and the lay eggs in soil, they fly to the fruit they can smell it a mile off. you can make catchers for them by puting a peice of fruit in a jar with plastic wrap over the top with a few small holes poked in it, they fly in to the jar but can't get out. The bad news is the eggs get in all your house plabts and the larva lives there till it hatches into flys. |

Rep Power: 23 | This thread was from a very long time ago, but I just had a similar incident... I was deep cleaning my little girls' bedroom and ran across an old diaper wipe box. I still don't know why I opened it, it was clear that it wasn't wipes in the box but something unknown. Now I know that it was about half of an old old apple. You can guess the rest of the story... |

Rep Power: 25 | EEEEWWWWWW!!!!!! I think you are going to have to start the check out/check in method with her on the fruit. Check out a piece of fruit/ check in the core when done. Hey but don't worry about this ending soon....I found a few day old 1/2 of a pizza in my 12 year olds room just a few weeks ago. If I get held up at the salon and he is home alone, I call up and order a pizza, put it on my credit card and have it delivered to him. I guess I never realized he was taking the whole thing to his room to eat. |
