W2 forms - tanTALK

The owner of my salon is basically refusing to give the employees our W2 forms. I told him I need it by Friday or I report him to the IRS. Have any of you ever run into such a problem? Do you know what the penalties are on an employees end? I am (or was) expecting a big return this year.

Well there is not much the IRS will do other than send a letter. They are "due" by January 31st.

Not sure why they dont have them. They are easy to do, its just basic math.

Go to last page of that doc. Employers have until 2/2 to get these to employees. Maybe show your employer this document? They may not know.

Thanks - I'm pretty sure he knows its due, in our state by Jan 31 to employees. UGH!

Maybe he never paid the payroll taxes to the government.

^^^ Does not matter though. You can still issue a W2 so long as the business eventually pays those taxes. Now if the business has not put that money aside and is broke, I could understand.
