You guys will get a kick out of this one

How about this

At one of our new Salons, we interviewed the existing employees to see if we wanted to keep them. Well, all seemed fine, so we decided to keep them on. After a few meetings about, how we will do business, new prices, new layout, employee manuals given out, etc. etc., one of the employees told us, "I am not going to come back to work, I don't like following rules". Needless to say, I could not quit laughing about this, LOL.

I think the old owner just let them do whatever they wanted, and was never around to keep tabs. No wonder they couldn't turn a profit...

I always find that the best staff is the freshest staff! Never keep on acquired staff and don't hire 2nd hand employees from other salons in most cases.

We have gone through many many employees. Everyone is usually amzing in the beginning and then they get bored and slack. We only have one employee that has been here for almost a year and she is amazing. She started slacking a little, but once we had a talk with her about her performance dropping she got back ontop of things and has been doing an amzing job. I think the best thing about her is, that this is her first job, and we were able to mold her into an amazing employee.

Re: You guys will get a kick out of this one

ooh i got a good 1. this just happened monday

1 of my employees decided 2 get a 2nd job which led to her not being available for me at the hours i needed filled. She assumed id work around her new hours but i cant. If she informed me of her looking for a 2nd job she would have new this!

When i found out I offered her more hours hoping she would leave the other job, she declined. So the both of us came to a understanding that i would need to replace her due to her lack of availability. She didnt seem to mind!

So i hired a new girl and started training her. She calls me last week saying she really needs me. She just got informed her new job is going out of business and closing 4 good in 2 weeks and she has a $500 deposit on a apartment scheduled to move in March 1st.

I said sorry to hear that but ive already rehired, i offerd u more hours to stay and u declined. You went and got a 2nd job and put them 1st. I cant just get rid of the new girl cause u lost the job u chose over mine.

Karma! Now shes jobless. And if i could take her back i prob still wouldnt, now i know shell leave without concern for me or the biz!

Both of you lost. Not sure how young she is but people have done that many time to me. I have had managers leave for a short as a month and want to come back. But once you break that trust you can't hire them back as you now know they will screw you over. Fool me once.

Re: You guys will get a kick out of this one

I've just bought a salon two weeks ago and i have started out with a new staff as well... none have worked in a real salon before (just the quick cut variety ) so they really have no idea of how things go. I feel i have an edge... as i can mold them into young professionals and work towards a team effort. This is my second salon and i have learned not to keep old staff or hire other unhappy salon jumpers !!!
