Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I was considering doing a full page ad in a local High School Newspaper. I realize these kids are underage and would need consent for the UV beds/booths, but does anyone think it would be worth it to advertise the Sunless? Also what kinds of promotions are people running for HS students if any? |

High school wasn't too long ago for me and I didn't read the HS newspaper I can tell you that. We get a lot of UV bed/booth teen tanners, and a few sunless clients. Promotions for HS students are more prom specials where we do lotion/tanning bundles (knock off like $10 off total price, they love it) and year-round we have a 10% off student discount *must show current ID* |

Kids converted parents into tanning believers..vitamin D etc.. 2. you build a pipeline of tanners for years to come.. dances etc.. 3. converted teachers who use to bash tanning.. into Vitamin D believers we are in Oregon... the worst state for Autism, MS, Breast Cancer etc.. The best states are Arizona, Texas and New Mexico.. see any correlation here? Sun=low disease rates... We have been milking the Vitamin D cow for all that she will make.. |

We absolutely educate our clients ESPECIALLY the worry-wart moms who don't want their young daughters tanning (my mom was one of them!) I always explain that the goal is not to BURN them but to TAN them so that they can get the necessary Vitamin D and have them learn how to tan the correct way. Everything in moderation. Be prepared to battle the know-it-alls who will insist that tanning is a close second to the Apocalypse though... Always makes me wonder, why they even bother setting foot in the salon in the first place? oh well, best of luck :) |

You literally have to walk on egg shells when explaining Vitamin D and "smart tanning" - word to the wise don't ever use the word SAFE. Ban that from your tanning dictionary! I believe Smart Tan does a relatively good job of explaining this in their basic certification. |

The rule was that there HAD to be two of them. "Buddy Tanning" was what it was called. As long as you BOTH purchased a package you got it 50% off. A lot of the HS students really liked this, and it brought not only one new client, but two... & Once they started tanning w/ us we worked on keeping them, and getting them into different beds @ full cost.
