Expiration Dates

Do any of you have exp dates for packages (not monthly)?

Do you find this irritates or deters customers...

Re: Expiration Dates

I have a 1 year expiration on all packages and gift certificates. It is clearly posted and I have never had any complaints.

Re: Expiration Dates

The way my fine print it worded, they are actually buying a six month membership or 10 visits, whichever comes first. Sorta like a car warranty, x number of years or miles.

Gift certificates in my state can not legally be expired unless a refund is given back.

Re: Expiration Dates

I have a 1 year expiration date that is clearly posted for all my session pkgs...no one seems to have a problem with it because most plan on using it right then...

Gift certificates in my state are good for 2 years from the purchase date...which most people or business owners have no clue there is actually a law on it....

Re: Expiration Dates

In PA there is no law about expiration dates on gift certificates. The only thing is if you chose to have an expiration date you are supposed to report all unclaimed gift certs to the Dept of Treasury 2 yrs after the expiration date.

Re: Expiration Dates

My 10 Sessions package is good for 6 months. I've gotten very few complaints. (Sure, a few pop up from time to time, but VERY few.) A nearby salon's sessions expire in only 3 months! I think 6 months is reasonable.

Gift certificates expire in 1 year.

Re: Expiration Dates

I expire mine in 1yr. nobody complains.

however if you purchase another package when you have expired visits the expired reactivate.

i would also reactivate manually if i got a complaint. few visits aint worth the pi$$ed of client

Re: Expiration Dates

I agree with Caribbean tan Man... Our points expire after 1 year. If a customer buys more points after points have expired, the old points reactivate. I have also added that any customer who is about to expire can keep them active if they buy $50 in lotion.

We call our expiring points customers each month to let them know that their points are about to go, this brings in sales of points and lotion. The staff likes making the calls so they can impact their coimmission. If a customer asks, I will also renew the points, don't want any negative reviews on Yelp!
