Other than tanning

I know this has been gone over a million times, but I feel like it changes each year or season as well so I am asking the same question again.

Other than tanning what services do you offer?
Other than tanning products what items do you sell?
How do these work for you?

we're an health club. we have cardio, racquetball, martial arts, steam and sauna, and tanning. and starting july 1st we have an esthetician coming in to do waxing & facials.

we don't sell any products besides our tanning/karate products yet but i'm sure we will bring in items when the esthetician comes in.

I dont offer others, but i would like to jump into something. The people down the road had (out of business now) beach bags, beach towels, sarongs, flip-flops, body jewelry. I used to have a women that sold jewelry on consignment in my salon. That worked well, since I had no investment. But she got too big, and only does trade shows and parties now. Silpada is a nice jewelry to offer.maybe a line of skin care or outdoor tanning lotions for when they do get to tan outdoors

I looked into Silpada but the 30% really isn't enough when with other things you can make so much more

Good luck with the esthetician, she will probably start telling your customers how BAD tanning is for them and try to get you to get rid of your beds. Better make a clause in her contract that if she even mentions tanning as anything BUT bad, she will be let go. Just a heads up. Estician are taught tanning is bad...you'll need to retrain her.

we just started offering travel to our customers. We are not travel agent, but a refering travel affiliate. we only have a website so there is no overhead. www.islcovetravel.com

My tanning salon offers sunglasses, which are ok. They don't sell too much. We also offer beauty supplies like hair dye from Wella, Clariol, Perms, Developers, Etc. In this town, we are the main "beauty supply" store so all the main people who work at hair salons come buy some of their dye here. It's pretty good. We just have a small selection and thats it.
