Power Question
Is it possible to get ruff estimate on my peak power usage by using the peak Kw measurement on my power meter? I’m trying to figure out how much power I have left for adding more beds. I have 3 phase 200 amp service currently.
Also, I have a 200 amp main breaker. Is this all I can support or can I add another breaker to the current service I have? |

Re: Power Question
This is an excellent question. So glad you asked it! The easiest way to figure out what you have "left" is to add up all the numbers on the switches in your main breaker panel (eg. 20, 30, 40, 80 etc.). Subtract that total from 200 (your max amp service) and a voila! Good luck. -Belvy

Re: Power Question
Right. YOu could also get an amp meter and turn on EVERYTHING and take a reading. This is the best way cause you are taking an actual reading instead of estimating. A bed on a 70amp breaker isn't pulling 70 amps. More like 60. So adding up the breakers will give you a "safe" estimate.
Also, you need to figure out if you can even upgrade that breaker box. What is the limit on the wiring coming from the pole? If you need to have the electric company run another wire to the building that's HUGE money compared to a couple thousand for just an upgrade at the box.
