Re: Once an Employee Now my comp
I trained her as my back-up- so if I was out of town then "as a salon" we would not have to turn business away. So as far as tanning clients she maybe sprayed 4 -myself included in that total when I was training her. So you can not say she has had a ton of experience.

Re: Once an Employee Now my comp
In the future if you have any concerns at all make your employees sign a No Compete waiver. you can talk to an attorney about it to make sure you have all your bases covered.

Re: Once an Employee Now my comp
IME: A non-compete is a good "scare tactic" -- they are difficult to enforce.

Non competes make great toilet paper. Spraying is easy and anyone can learn to do it in an afternoon. Don't kid yourselves in thinking that you are harnessing a difficult skill.

Re: Once an Employee Now my comp
A non- comp agreement would have been a smart idea. But I guess hind site is 20/20. Its not so much about me teaching her the skill of spray tanning. Its all the research, energy , and contacts. Its like you staying up all night to study for a test and the jerk next to you copies all of your answers. Its like if you are going to do it (get in business) then go do your own leg work. Don't mooch of my hard work. Oh yeah and the personal slap in the face doesn't feel good either.

Re: Once an Employee Now my comp
this happens in alot of businesses.. people have to get experience somewhere.... i refer some clients to certain esthetician i know that specialize in things i dont ... but in this business .. people are soo bitter and teritorial>(Is that word LOL) ,......at the same time there are too many salons in many area for all types of beauty enhancements.. nails, hair , spa etc

Re: Once an Employee Now my comp
I think more and more people are going to be going this route. The equipment doesn't cost much and it seems pretty easy. I'm actually surprised there aren't more mobile spray businesses.
A non-compete clause isn't worth the paper it's printed on. There is nothing you can do to keep any employee, or customer, from doing exactly what you are doing. It's part of being in business. The best thing to do is offer a great service with great customer service. People will come to you for that. |
