Re: LOTIONS SALES new manager
that depends on how much sales are , how busy your salon is, etc???
ifthey are just working for paycehck it will not matter , they will not sell more or less.. but if their job depended on it , im sureyou will see an increase in sales. also, have thy tried the other lotions??? how can they recommend something they enver tried?? is it just lotions or are they just sellingto clients that already THINK they know what theywant???

My moto: "There are those who do their job and those who perform their job, I want performers."
If an employee does not go the extra mile (like wash the room mirrors when its slow) they are not worth anything to me, period. See who is working hard, those are the ones you want to keep and help them/ train them to sell up. As mentioned above, very often people sell what they use and like. It sure happens around here! Speed of Light from DS was a top seller, probably because the entire staff was using it!

Re: LOTIONS SALES new manager
I'm a relatively new manager myself and have gotten some great advice from the people on here! You may want to consider a few things:
*set monthly and/or weekly sales goals specific to products for your employees (keep in mind how busy you are and how much of your total sales needs to be lotion, as well as how many hours each person works per week/month) *make sure they try the lotions AS WELL AS read up on all the info about every lotion you carry *consider incentives/bonuses *let them know that they are expected to sell lotion as a main part of their job, they are not just there to check people in and clean beds! if someone is consistently not selling or not reaching goals, try a probationary action such as no free tanning for the next month (if you offer that to employees), etc. And let them know if you implement something like this, so they will be motivated and know ahead of time what they risk if they don't perform up to par. Hopefully helpful! I'm trying some of these things myself!

Re: LOTIONS SALES new manager
My manager gives out monthly and weekly sales goals. We do give commission on lotion sales, but we also tell them that this is a sells position and if they can't sell then we can't keep them. My manager also gets a overall store commission and when she notices a girl not selling too much she will go over the training with her about understanding the lotions more and how every tanner should always be using a lotion. If this don't work that when we let them go!!

Re: LOTIONS SALES new manager
I have a big goals board that i update every day in my break room that shows everything so they can keep track. I continually stress that how much money they make is really up to them!
They need structure. I give them monthly goals. They have a product sales average that they need to keep up to at least $1.50 and they have a services sales average that needs to be at least $5.00. Those are just the company's standards. I set them higher, say $2.25 & $6.50. I also give them a membership sales goal and a lotion bottle sales goal. If they reach the company goal, then they get regular commission, if they reach or exceed the ones I gave, they get an additional $25 for each. I also do lotion contests. Right now, we're doing a bingo-style lotion contest and they are having a lot of fun with it! We have a huge bin of employee lotions, so they have the opportunity to try them all out. Once a month, we have sort of a mini-lotion training seminar during our meeting and that really helps beat the info into their heads & it lets them ask me questions, if they have any. I type up study guides with info on what the ingredients do and what i say to the customers when I am selling them. Sometimes I will randomly call them during their shift and ask them questions/role play. When they are hired, I explain all of this and how the bonuses work. They sign a form that states if they do not keep their averages to the minimum requirement, they could lose their tanning privelages or be let go.

Re: LOTIONS SALES new manager
Depending on how well you know your customers, have your salesperson throw in how you love a certain lotion.I like all the products I stock for one reason or another so its easy to compliment them on their choice next time I see them with the bottle.Works everytime.

I have a list of all the lotions we carry in our store and next to it I put things like: price of the bottle, price of the sample, a breakdown of how much it costs the customer per use if they have a bottle instead of buying samples all the time (shows how much $$ they can save), key ingredients & main selling points, and also what i say to the customer when i'm presenting it. Example: AG Idol (the 2008 revamp with DermaDark) Bottle $58, Sample $7, 8.5oz bottle gives about 20-24 uses = approx $2.64 per use Key Ingredients- Hemp (a natural moisturizer that draws moisture in the air and locks it into your skin), Retinol (wrinkle reducing/skin firming), and Dermadark technology (a plant based enzyme that increses the levels of tyrosine in your skin and in turn increases melanin production, streak free & stain free, the cool thing about it, is that it doesn't necessarily need UV to start the process---tanning from the inside out--- it helps you create more melanin now and the next time you tan) I also have signs and diagrams around the counter area that give facts about tanning/lotion etc, so whenever a customer says "i tan better without a lotion", we can educate them. I've never been a real pushy salesperson. I like to give them the facts and information that I know so that they can make an educated decision. I've found the more I educate my customers, the quicker the lotions fly off my shelves without them feeling like we just want to take their money.
