Question Pace maker

Does it matter what bed a person goes in if they have a pace maker? A customer came in and told us that and we have never heard of it...any thoughts?

Re: Pace maker

Does he have problems in the sun?

I would think that if there were any problem at all, it would be units with magnetic ballast. But I seriously don't think they will bother his pace maker. But that would be my best guess.

I agree about the magnetic rays. Not sure if they are strong enough to bother it but better to be safe.

Did you know people aren't suppose to wear those so called health magnetic jewelry in a tanning bed? The makers of the jewelry claim the magnets are much to strong in the jewelry to place them in a tanning bed. Again this information just comes from the manufacturer. :)

Re: Pace maker

Mag and choke ballasts operate at 60 Hz, electronic ballasts operate at 20K-40KHz, microwave ovens operate in the Gigahertz range. This is the frequency range that pacemakers are affected.
there is nothing special in a bed that is not in every other appliance. No different then the ceiling lamps. All appliances incorporate some sort of transformers that operate at line frequency and have no effect on pacemakers.

60Hz is all around us, free in the air, if it were a problem then pacemakers wouldn't work in the first place.
