writing a sales staff ad for the paper

any ideas?

or past ads that have brought in some good candidates?

am I wrong by looking for a successful retail sales person?

I mean, after all, it is just a retail sales job that just happens to be in a tanning salon? right?

Re: writing a sales staff ad for the paper

go do some head hunting. Now is the perfect time to do that. Go to the local malls and go to cell phone conters, clothing shops and hair care supplies. Look for someone that looks the part and go shop there. Ask stupid questions and see how they respond. You will find out if they are money motivated and if they are very smart. Make sure you get their name, prefer a business card if the have one. Take a day or 2 doing that, then once you think you have found a few that fit your needs, call them and invite them for lunch. Tell them what your doing and see where that takes you.

I used to do this all the time. The malls this time of year is a gold mine.

ditto

And FYI, if anyone calls us asking if we are hiring, its an automatic "no". We will only accept apps from those that come in and take time to fill it out at home. That alone shows a bit more effort than the majority.

And ALWAYS call the prior employers. You would be surprised.
