Re: salon software

I use Sunlync, It operates your whole salon and the software provides some great marketing tools as well. There is no upfront cost, but you have to pay $79.00 a month to use it and the support is very good. Go to sunlync.com and check it out.

Re: salon software

We use SalonTouch. Does the job but was somewhat complicated to set-up. Lots of flexibility with reports and tracking customers, bed usage, and the like.

Re: salon software

We use Helios, no problems. $49.50 a month. http://www.gohelios.com

Re: salon software

Tan Track is the most affordable. It's about $600 and you own it. Unlimited tech support for $200 per year (well worth it!) I'd stear clear of Helios if I were you.

Re: salon software

Im not a fan of Helios. Their support staff sucks, if you can get through to them with them having to call you back - that alone is really sad since we are PAYING a monthly fee FOR the support, at least thats how they bill it. And then there is the complete lack of innovation. Typical "monopoly" behavior.

But we have it and are stuck with it for now. I have been looking lately and Tan Track, seems pretty darn nice.

Re: salon software

I know with helios you have to use there credit card proccessing company. with Sunlync you don't and if you have multiple salons Sunlync is very good at connecting with multiple locations, also with helios you have to buy there equipment to operate there software at least you did when i looked at them in the beginning of the year. if you have to use Helioses credit card processing company I am sure your paying a little extra to Helios (ETS)

Well thats one thing I can defend. Not sure if this is "private" info so I will not give exact numbers out.

But yes if you do use Helios and do NOT want to have a separate credit terminal, you have to use their processing company. Which happens to be Chase. Thats not a bad thing at all and had been the best company I have ever worked with. At first I was not happy with having to setup and account with them, but it was easy and there were no setup fees, minimums, etc. Helios has a "partner" program with them.

Helios does take 5 cents per transaction and Chase takes their cut. However for us this turned out to still be 5 cents cheaper than our current processor. The percent of the total sale went up 0.4%, but since most of out transactions are low dollar, there is no impact there. At the end of the year that adds up but the savings in the per-transaction make up for that.

You can use any internet provider you want, just had to be high-speed.

For hardware you are not totally locked into what Helios sells. I now have two TSP613 Thermal Printers for receipts, they work fine and Helios formats for them. Helios even prints the number of sessions a client had remaining. I just wish it printed the expiration of unlimited and EFTs.

For cash drawers, just some basic ones that connect to the printers. They pop-open when needed or manually by pressing F3 in Helios. So no problem their either.

We do no have a check reader, dont need one. Instead we have just a basic magnetic reader for credit cards. Again, works fine.

Moving away from the terminal to the integrated EFT system is great.
