Re: Client Check In
Why bs, if you dont know you dont know. We have had over 4500 clients this year am i really suppose to know all the names. Lets say just 1000 of those come in all year, am i suppose to know 1000 names. Your checking in just like any other business whats you last name? Between me and the girls we do know most of the names and often ask each other before the client comes in whos this. The clients whos names we know appreciate the fact that we do. We do the best we can.
I had a guy that lived across the street from me for more than a year and called me by my name for that period of time. Outside of wrok i cant remember names. I told him one day, man i am sorry i am bad with names and i feel bad but i dont know your name. We talked more after that and seemed to be even more comfortable with each other. Its not that you have to ask but how you ask. |

I tell people that "I'm sorry but I suck at remembering names and please don't take it personally", they always laugh and say that's ok. I was just trying to see if anyone had a way of doing it that might "click" with me and give me a new way of doing it.

Re: Client Check In
Sometimes i just remember a first name for a while. I dont know what software you use but with helios you can pull up the first names. then i can guess from there. Also with helios if you see a client you know has just signed up in the last couple days you can look it by number. Like right now we just broke into the 37000 range. Tomorrow if i see a new cusotmer from the last couple days ill type in 37100 to bring up the list starting with newest client and then make a pretty good guess from there. Get a new client on the first time back it will not matter if you ever know it again or not.

Re: Client Check In
Key tags! I use Helios and it's very very simple. Every client that gets a package of ten tans or a membership receives a key tag to check in with. Not only is it handy for check ins, it's got your logo out there on the front and if a client wants to tell a friend where you are, there's your address right on the back. If they want to call to check your hours or something your phone number is right there too, always on their keys. If they go to the grocery store and pull out their keys they see your name every time they do... "Oh, I should go tan while I'm out". It gives them a feeling of ownership; belonging... I've started calling them a "cool pass"... "I'm cool; look what I've got". When they check in we scan their tag and there's their name. "Thanks Jen, are you going to use the Level 2 bed again today or would you like to try the Level 2 booth?"
