think- we never want to seem like the chain stores in this business - if they like your store ,and your machines ,they will return . there are many sales approaches bottom line is they want a good service at a good price .........

The majority of my money comes from EFT's so I will try and let you know some of the things that I do to close that sale that haven't been covered earlier.
First, I would suggest having different prices for different beds. My EFT's run from 19.95 to 49.95 depending on what beds you want access too. The reason I suggest this is that then they only pay one fee per month for tanning. You're not charging them an EFT and then hitting them for an upgrade fee. Tell them that for 10 more dollars they can tan in that better bed all they want. Second, it is important to qualify your customers. Before you ever talk price, membership, packages, sessions or whatever find out their goals and tanning habits. Then tell them the package that is right for them. It's sounds arrogant, but your employee's must remember that they are the experts. They look to you to know what is best for them. Third, what I do with customers that want to pay cash is tell them that I have to have a credit card on file. If they want to come in before the first and pay cash they can. If they don't, I will draft their card. I also do my drafts in house and don't out source them. It makes people feel better to know that I don't let a third party have access to their card number. I'm always in my salon and I tell them that if they have a problem they can come and talk to me directly because I was the one that did it and I'm the one that can fix it. Sorry to be long winded. I get the employees to sell these EFTs by giving them 50% of the first month's fee. Nothing after that. I now have a 5 month minimum signup because of customers taking advantage of it for 1 or 2 months.

I don't have Electronic Funds Transfers. I believe that if my customers like the experience of tanning here that they will return, and I won't need tricks to retain their business. It's all about smart customer relations. Think your yourself as a consumer. If you found a salon you liked, is it really such a big deal to pull our your plastic money once a month? I see EFTs as a bit of a dirty deal!

I agree with what you said, but I submit that it is only idealistic in reality, and not sound business logic. True, there are many salons that use an EFT system to "screw" the customer, IMO, by locking them into contracts the way the mega gyms used to (or still do?) 10 years ago. However, I cannot stress enough how important it is for a business to offer its customers as many ways to pay for their goods and services as possible, with the contingent that those programs serve both the customers and the business equally. For instance, you wouldn't want to pay the transaction fees for CC purchases - no benefit for the customer, bad for your bottom line; or waive the sales tax - good for the customer, bad for your bottom line; etc etc etc. A proper EFT program is simply just a convenient way for your regular, loyal customer base to pay for the goods and services they love to buy ... FROM YOU. Make it "painless" and free from "risk" for them, and you'll reap the benefits two-fold.
On a special not regarding sales, of any kind - your responsibility is to give their intellect the "reasons" to buy what you're selling, then give them an "emotional feeling" to buy. Hope this helps. Good luck. -Belvy

Deal Me In, said it right you need to find out what your customers want, Take them for a tour of your salon, explain the bed's and diferences and ask them what there goals are. You might have someone who is going to a wedding in a month and has no intention of ever tanning again, so the EFT makes no sense. On the other hand you might have someone who loves to tan all the time so the monthly plan makes no sense. Like said above you need to understand your customers needs before you can realy start selling anything. Once you take the time with your customers, you build a trust and loyalty that will only help your business grow. You have to remeber that is what separates you from the big chains. Good Luck.
