Re: do you let your employees tell your clients that you have new lamps in a bed?

actually, i have to do all of the relamping myself. i like to do it and it takes awhile. i have 13 beds and i cant do them all in one day. being a new salon owner (1 year now) i have had to come full circle with restoring some older units and cleaning them all, including relamping, and maintenence. its pretty much up to me. the former owner left me a mess with no bed maintenece logs-nothing. hours were wrong on lamps in the computer-clients were used to beds being changed out randomly. i think this is where asking for the newest lamps came about. i finally got every bed off that schedule and on my own where each level is neck and neck. i just got tired of hearing the same question over and over. with a new lamp season coming up, i was just dreading the issue again.

Good answer - I do my lamp as well but i can do that many beds in a day. Been doing it a while though. It will take a while to break the habits of the other owner though.

Wait until you hear - are the lamps still new? No you moron i took the new ones out and put the old ones back in because i have norhing to do.

Re: do you let your employees tell your clients that you have new lamps in a bed?

Why would you possibly change all of the same bed type at the same time?? All the hours are different on them. They are all used different times. That's a waste....if you keep track of all your hours you would not have to do this. Granted it would alleviate the problem of everyone wanting the same bed, but at the same time you are changing out bulbs that don't need to be changed yet and spending more than needed.
People are just annoying like that. We have to tell the girls there are changed but if a customer asks me I always say i'm not sure. Then I will throw in "well I think 12 is pretty hot today" but I change the number for every person I tell that way they all go in different beds.

Re: do you let your employees tell your clients that you have new lamps in a bed?

its more by levels than all the beds at once. when i am working-which is most of the time-i know which beds have how many hours on the lamps. i try to keep them evenly distributed and used. not always possible, but more of an issue with the level 1 beds. i do have a bed or 2 that have more hours on the lamps for first timer fair people. this way i can judge how they tanned in this bed before passing them on to the newer lamps-IMOO.

It would be great if it worked that way for us but when the girls are here at night they always use the bed closest to the counter so they don't have to walk very far to go clean the room. Lazy employees!

as the boss i can say what i want, tell them whatever and they will probably move along, but....then they will manipulate my employees who are young and more easily intimidated.
They are the ones paying, I think they could choose whatever bed they want to tan in. I don't see a problem.

Re: do you let your employees tell your clients that you have new lamps in a bed?

We change all the lamps in all 8 of our regular beds on the same day and the same with our 3 high intensity beds. When people say, "I want Bed 7 it's really hot" I say, "We changed all the lamps at the same time and we have to go in order so they maintain an equal number of hours." And they say, "Oh. So what room am I in." And they come back the next day and go in whatever room I tell them to go in. It's the most logical thing to do. I don't want people waiting around all day for a certain bed when they are the same.

Re: do you let your employees tell your clients that you have new lamps in a bed?

This is not our first lamp change that we have done, but it does just so happen that this is the first time that we have had to change them at different times (one month apart). The hours were so different, first off, because we have a lot of clients that only want to tan in THEIR bed. You are right envision, it is their money, they can have whatever bed they want. So we had a discrepency on the hours.

BUT when you change the new lamps and everyone is only wanting that bed it throws off everyone else behind them, that may also want to try to bed with new lamps. OUR problem however is that the other lamps are ONLY FOUR WEEKS OLD... it is not like they are old by any means!
