Your friend used to own a salon and expects you to be able to afford $14 an hour???? LOL! Sorry, but I would think the going rate for a manager would be different for different parts of the country.....and I think that starting someone right out at $14 per hour seems a bit crazy! Maybe ask yourself why she is an ex owner....hmmm.

Re: Who has a full time manager?

Yeah $14 per hour for only 30 hours a week is steep. As for HOLTSNAZ not many cust problems, and she does not do ordering then mabye $8 would be sufficient. Customer problems around here takes up the majority of my time some days. Everyone wants something for free! Had a lady the other day tells one of my girls the bed wasn't hot enough for her to really sweat!!! And wants another tan for free!! Are you serious lady?? Sorry you did not sweat but come on now, you don't need to sweat in order to tan, are you for real?
I do two salons and 8 girls, schedule takes mabye an hour if I'm not bothered by anyone. Besides the dedication from her is not there like it might be for someone else that only worked for you and did not have another job.

Re: Who has a full time manager?

In my experience with managers or employees, you get what you pay for. If you can only afford $7 an hour for a manager, you will only get someone who can work somewhere else for $7 an hour... Waitresses at Waffle House make more then that.

Im not too sure about this... if they are a previous owner you dont want them running your store. There is a reason they are not STILL an owner, you dont want their bad habbits bringing your business down the tube also.

$14 per hour seems steep also, I would pay them 8 plus comm, that way they work hard and sell, AND motivate other employees to sell as long as she gets a small cut.

Re: Who has a full time manager?

I am that way too. But as I let go of some of the responsibilities it's not so bad. Well, except it's my salon with my employees, which makes it bad. But other than that.

Re: Who has a full time manager?

Depends on the responsibilities. Sometimes it helps to put a salary plus commission if they are running a high volume location. See the amount of people they are dealing with in the salon on a daily basis. See what you want to handle, and what you don't. If you don't want to be the one covering shifts everytime an employee calls out. You pay a little bit better with the salary. Same for if they are ordering lotion, dealing with issues, EFT's, Employee Fights...LOL.... And if you are having them get the supplies....You also need to see what you can realistically afford. If you pay them well, you will get it in return...But it needs to fit the job duties..Don't pay someone $14 hourly if they are just making a schedule and cleaning the beds.
