I agree, you try to treat them fairly but they don't treat you fairly back.

I do know that sometimes we use other peoples names to let someone tan so it's hard to always know what has really happened.

For example, if we started the 3 minute delay or something and the person decides to stop at the restroom before going into the room we will turn off the bed for them and then have to put them in again under someone elses name. I know there is probably a better way but this is the easiest way for us to do it.

I know that suntouch allows you to cancel the tanning bed and restart it. There is definitely a better way than falsifying your records about who tanned. What if that person comes in? Do you put them under someone else too?

Push start then stop. When they are ready they can push start again.

Re: What to do about an Employee who might be giving out free tans

Back to the employee thing -- It upsets me more than anything that I do so much for my employees (more than other local tanning salons, I am sure of) and then when I am least expecting it....I find that an employee has done something against our policy. For me personally, this is the thing that bothers me most about owning my own business.

I had her sign an aggreement. Now if her cousin or friend comes in and tans free she herself tells me I you need to deduct a tan.
She got the point quick and I notice its only rarely that one comes in.....and a few of her friends are now month purchasers:)
A good employee does not steal from her employer. Giving away free tans is stealing. Period. Kathe

absolutely correct Kathe!! Even if she does everything else well, she has atolen from you and if she can't do it one way she'll find another. It shows what's in the person's heart, if she thinks it's okay to give away tans and you call her on it don't be surprised when her tactics change

Re: What to do about an Employee who might be giving out free tans

I own my own business so I can kind of relate to this. We get lots of promo and free items, we had a storage facility we used specifically for that purpose. Turns out an employee of mine last year had just moved into a new apartment and was helping himself to the free decor and some furniture. His reasoning was that since I didn't pay for it, then it's okay to take... but we use those items to make money. They come in handy for staging homes which in turn we get paid for.. which equals lost income if the items were not there to be used. He didn't get it until I let him go. Sometimes you just have to be tough.

Id question it and slap a contract down declaring that if paper work doesnt match up, employee working can be held responsible for loss due to negligence. That'll scare the pants off her!! This way your not accusing but your cover ur tail! Good luck!
