Appointment Book

Does anyone have a recommendation for an appointment book, preferably one that could handle 9 beds? I have a tanning software package and I am currently using homemade pads (by the previous owner) for the hard copy. It may seem redundant, but the previous owner had 3 sources for each tan (Computer, Appt. Sheet, then Journal). I am going to check online too, but if you have something that works for you, I would be interested in hearing it. Thanks.

I don't do appointments. First come, first serve.

Re: Appointment Book

us too, but we write down the customers into an appointment book, for record keeping purposes (hard copy to the computer).

Re: Appointment Book

Why? I use suntouch. It will print out a report for tan history if you ever want it.

Do regular backups. Throw the paper away. That is just extra work for nothing.

I thought so too, but the previous owner used 3 forms of logging in customers (computer, appt sheet, journal). I don't have a printer here (yet) for the fear of employees using it for homework. I was considering a wireless connection for printer and keep it locked in a closet.

I made my own (currently 8 cols.) Had them photocopied and bound in book form.

Re: Appointment Book

I let employees do homework if they are done with everything they are supposed to do. As a matter of fact, I encourage it. I require that the salon is clean and neat, but this time of year, it is either homework or TV. They can toggle over to Suntouch when a customer walks in and toggle back to word or excel when they are done with the customer. I have an "L" shaped counter and they need to keep the books on the side away from the customer.

During the busy season it is a different story. there is no time to do homework. I have had a few employees though that didn't have a computer at home and I let them come in after hours to do their homework. I don't have internet access on the salon computer, though. If I need internet access, I have my laptop and there is an office 2 doors down from me with a wireless network I can connect to.

Re: Appointment Book

Neon (glad to see you aren't writing backwards today :)
I re-created the sheet that the previous owner used and am ready to bring it to a printer, but thought that maybe there's something out there already to use instead.
Thanks...

Re: Appointment Book

Neon, why the paper records? Do you ever go back and look at them?

Re: Appointment Book

One problem I have with SunTouch and it's probably not so much the software but the way the previous owner set it up is that if I run a "business activity" report. It shows me that there's almost 3 times the number of clients than there really was.

If a client comes in for a visit, the software logs them in 3 times (once for picking the type of bed, once for the money taken, once for the amount of time in that bed). I would think that it should only view the customer once on the report.

For packages, it's nice and clean, it just takes the minutes off, unless they are buying a package and using some of the minutes, then it's on the report twice.

So when I look at my summary page it will say 98 customers when it was more like 37 customers.

My sheet has the true number of customers listed, which is then recorded in the journal. I figured that I would keep the sheets for maybe a year or two and the journal for the required 7 years.
