Gift Certificates vs. Gift Cards

Hey All,

As a new salon owner and the holidays quickly approaching, I was wondering what you all use for gift certificates. Do you use gift certificates or gift cards? If they are gift certificates, do you print your own or order them from somewhere? How about the gift cards?

We use gift cards here. It is more convenient for the customer to carry with them. I think we will pre-load them this year though. No more letting the customer decide how much they want on it. Just for better tracking on our part. We have a Black Friday special with our gift cards depending on how much they purchase. Just an idea.

We've done gift certificates that we purchase from Office Max. I like the idea of gift cards though. Much more convenient possibly.

I have always done gift certificates that I have made, but this year I have purchased gift cards... they are much easier for people to keep up with.. I got a special for $99, it was 100 gift cards and envelopes at www.giftcertificatecentral.com

We switched to gift cards last year....much more attractive.

I have been using the gift cards from giftcertificatecentral.com for three years now, and I love them. They are "manual" cards versus the cards that you scan every time you need to load dollars or redeem. With my cards, you buy them one time and no more fees every time you swipe.

yeh I got the ones without the barcodes too... they have a sticker you put on the back of it for their info, and my software keeps up with the numbers
