We will be closed on Thanksgiving, and open on Friday from 12 - 4.

Wow! We would NEVER close on Friday. For us, its our biggest selling day! Of course we run crazy deals, like buy one get one on memberships and usually a great lotion deal. We are a tiny salon, a $500 day at this time of the year is a GREAT day. But on friday we will pull in nearly 4k.

Now you ask, why the **** would we do this? We tried it one year, no pre-anouncment and opened two hours earlier than normal. We wanted to try and see if we could do some sales, we did 2.5k and we shocked. We also freaked out a bit about all these people having memberships. As time went on we noticed something, these people came in, purchased this great deal in their buying frenzy... and never came back?!?!?! Well, not EVERYONE, but we had less then a 50% return rate on memberships bought and of those that did use the packages, 20% only tanned during their first month to five weeks of their two month package (for example). Even better, we typically tan less then 50 people - they come, they buy, they leave.

So in short black friday is not just for the retail giants, it can provide a vital injection of revenue when needed and help push out old lotions and get ya ready for another year!

GREAT POST UNITY. I have a customer appreciation day every black friday with one time only specials/packages and lotion prices. its always the best money day of the month. not 4k but well still take it.

could be especially good this year seeing my closest comp is moving out of town in Nov.

I should add something I forgot to. While we do not announce the sale, we do have posters staked in the ground along the street to announce the special. We put them out the day of, its starts out slow but as word gets out it gets crazy. :)

And yes, 4k :) For comparison, a great day during the busy season is $1k. Last year, we had not one great day and in 04, just two but we get close. And expected average is about $600. So for us, 4k is great, but imagine if your salon's revenue is better than ours. People are on a buying frenzy that day, they have the money... take it!

Closed Thurs and Fri. I am in a mall that services offices and Hotels mostly and there is no one there that whole week.

most of the salons in my city are open on the day after..we are still mild in temperatures there are alot of tourists here who indoor tan
