I am going to start holding the employee meetings monthly. Some of the employees feel like the meetings are only going to be a ***** session on my part or not worth attending. At previous meetings I have "required" them to be there so I have paid them but I am thinking about making it "advised" that you be there so that I wouldn't have to pay and there will be certain incentives for attending.
So..my question is...what types of meetings do you all hold? Do you just lecture and go over problems? train on new stuff? brag about the good sales of certain employees? quiz them over tanning stuff or lotion? Give away stuff as prizes? You get my point....any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks! |

Re: EMPLOYEE MEETINGS...
i guess it all depends on the # of employees. all i can say is make sure to compliment on the good stuff after you rag at them and always end on a good happy note.....
.ps i have 1 employee so my meeting is when i get in and she leaves. if i have to tell her something negative i do and then always add a positive.

Re: EMPLOYEE MEETINGS...
well i have 8 employees 4 of which are new - so this meeting is to introduce everyone as well as get the ones that have been on summer break back in the swing of things. I do want to do training and plan on them watching some sales videos but does anyone do anything "fun" that the employees look forward to coming each week.

Re: EMPLOYEE MEETINGS...
I don't hold employee meetings at the salon anymore. Just have 2 employees now, so no big deal to catch them individually.
I hold meetings at my other business every other Thursday. They are not paid meetings. Payday is Friday, but if you come to the meeting I pay after the meeting is over. If you don't come to the meeting, you don't get paid until after 2:00 on Friday. Most employees come to the meeting to get their paycheck a day early. |

Re: EMPLOYEE MEETINGS...
I have monthly meetings. Roughly takes about an hour. We play great trivia games on info from Tanning Trends and/or Sun Times (monthly tanning magazines) the winners of the questions get lottery tickets, this gets them involved in the tanning business as a whole. We also discussion everyones opinion on new products and the month priors promotions and coupon turn out was. And we review the next months specials. And we give away free samples of new lotions. Make it enjoyable. The problems should be one on one will the individuals that are the problem. Last month we gave out free pizza coupons and free movie tickets to the employees who didn't call off and worked over for others.
I also provide refreshments.

Re: EMPLOYEE MEETINGS...
I have monthly meeting with my girls, at least I try, in the busy season it is really heard to find a extra 1 or2 hours for a meeting so I am found leaving notes haning around. During the slower months I use them for training. I have a meeting monthly and everyone is to be there or they are written up and if they miss more then 3 meeting then they are gone no questions!!! We also do trivia, games and they take a test each month (a simple test I make myself of 50 qusetions)go over products, and I ask their input on different things. I always want them to feel that they are as a part as this business as I am. Our meeting always seem to go over really good and we get alot of training done with alot of gossip!!!
