Payroll: outsource vs. inhouse

I currently outsource my payroll. I have 4 employees & pay them biweekly. The company I use figures out tax info to take out of the checks, cuts the checks & gives me the check each month to pay Uncle Sam his share. This averages $135.00 a month. To save money, I am considering using Quickbooks. Does anyone else use Quickbooks & do their own payroll? Thanks!!:)

Re: Payroll: outsource vs. inhouse

Yes. I have used QB for a long time (my first version was DOS). Very easy if you are familiar with the rules. If you know what has to be paid and when you should be able to do it yourself with just a little effort.

Re: Payroll: outsource vs. inhouse

QB Pro is the easiest to use and it does all of your taxes, both state and Federal, as well as forms, etc. Why pay someone when you can spend 10 minutes a pay period and do it yourself?

Re: Payroll: outsource vs. inhouse

unless you have multiple salons there is NO REASON to outsource your payroll.

I agree. I do however have an accountant and that's part of his duties.

Bank of America now has on-line payroll services, very cheap, very easy.
