Re: Help me decide
Right now I have some old, but serious Dr. Mueller's... a Magna (my phase 4) & 2 Odysseys (my phase 3s). 3 Puretans(phase 2) and a coupleof ETSs that I'm ready to take a hatchet to. (one is such a POS that I refuse to let anyone in the room) I also have a Dr. Mueller face tanner and a Quantum stand up.
The plan is to buy some better models with facials for phase 2 and make 1 or 2 of the Puretans my phase 1. Relamp the Magna to VHR and the Odysseys to Baby VHR. The throw in a coulple of these lux models (like you've posted). This is partly my idea and partly the consultants. So at this point, the face-only, both ETS and at least one of the Puretans are on their way out. I think its nice to offer the face only, but its under utilized, and I want to make more $$ off the room or make the room into my office (I'm working in the kitchen now! O, I didn't mention I already have a 3 sink kitchen... but don't really want to go into food.) That leaves 4 rooms to rent or fill. Demand... this salon has been neglected for about 2 years, but as I mentioned the demographicas are great, and I offer a MUCH more upscale environment (and its only going to get better as I re-decorate/ make-over the place)... in theory the demand is already here, but my numbers aren't great. I'm making $ but not like I could be. So I really need to make sure I take this the right direction. Not one of you has said add a chair of any variety.... interesting. |

Re: Help me decide
I just don't get why the bed manufacturers are so hung up on beds that look like they belong in an arcade or disney world. I prefer sleek and classy looking instead of guady and tacky. I guess it draws the teens but in the off season we appeal to 30 to 70 yr old tanners to. (imho :) ) Maybe someone should design a maple/walnut/cherry tanning bed lol.

MORE QUESTIONS: Should I move the Quantum from the lobby to its own room? Seems "classier" to not have to undress and tan right where I'm doing sales, but I don't really need all that space in the lobby, and I was wondering... OK, OK, I know its a fad that's passed, but should I put a mini oxygen bar in that space? Everyone says no, but this is SUCH a 'party' neighborhood, I think I could sell it on hangover releif alone, plus there's no others in the city (that I know of, and I think I'd know) And it wouldn't be a huge investment.... worth it to try it? I'm not considering tubing the whole salon, just a 2 or 4 person 'bar'.... ALSO: who knows of a teeny stand-up I could put in the face-only room? Its about 4 foot by 6 foot... or should I keep that face only? It get used about 6 times a week. |

Re: Help me decide
1. Ditch the face tanner. It is taking up a valuable room that could be making money. If anything, move IT to the lobby.
2. NO Oxygen bar. No aquamassage. Stick to tanning unless you want to get into room rentals for massage therapist or something else, but in this case, have them lined up FIRST before you re-model a room for them 3. Spray might make sense (what is your market like for this?) - I like Mystic or Cabana Mist. Definitely need updated and higher end uppper level equipment -- maybe even High Pressure (again - what is your market like for this?). The route to a "classy, upscale" salon is through money spent on equipment, not decor. They want results - period. 4. If you don't trust your consultant's opinion, why are you working with them? |
