Re: Suggestions regarding employee

Laney, how is it going now that you had the "chat" with her?

What do you let them know in the interview process? Do you explain some of the ground rules ahead of time? Like if we hire someone new you will be EXPECTED to help them get the swing of things, show them how to clean the beds, use the computer, etc; that way if they use the "that's a managerial position" line, you can say "uh...told ya in the interview this was YOUR job". That has helped us get rid of a few. late 15 times!!??!! Yikes!!! That's a lot, even if only a few minutes!

Hope she is still working out better for you ...if not, give her the Donald! :)

Re: Suggestions regarding employee

Shel, EVERYTHING was explained to her...right from the getgo....You wouldn't believe the things that have gone on since I first posted this. We finally put up with as much as I can and this past Tuesday, we gave her the can. Her husband came in demanding an apology....we said no way...she got her termination letter yesterday.....outlining everything that she had done that she was not supposed to, or vice versa. We told her to come in, bring our handbook back and she could collect her last check.
Today is the start of our Customer Appreciation weekend for three days. In the middle of all the people in the salon, she comes walking in with her husband, handbook in her hand. and waits for her check. Didn't say a word. We gave her her check and she handed me the handbook. She & hubby walked out and lo and behold, the cops were outside. They had brought the with them! As if they were expecting us to do anything!
In any case, we're glad she's gone. I've hired a girl to help with cleaning beds tomorrow and Sunday for our weekend, and we still have our bed cleaner here. I'll be running the front until we decide what we want to do. We were glad to finally get rid of her. It's a long story but there was so much more to it. And it would take days to type it all.
Thanks for all your support. It's just really hard to find good help, no matter what you do. I guess if you want anything done at all, it's best to do it yourself!
Everyone have a great day and wish us luck this weekend. so far, not great sales but in a small town, people flock when they hear the word "Free".
