Question Prices over the phone???

The thing I hate the most is having customers in line or asking questions about packages/lotions and the phone ringing only to hear the person ask "what are your prices or do you have any specials?"

So, my question is - how do you handle price shopping and these people only wanting prices or specials over the phone.

I feel like the customers in the salon should get my undivided attention because they have shown the effort coming in, so often I'll put the person on hold and politely let them know that I have several customers and if they would like to hold I could go over some things with them.

I also don't like giving out prices, etc because we offer different levels/packages I like to show them the beds then talk about prices....

do you all give out all your info over the phone and if not how do you go about saying it so that you don't get this snotty ... "well i'll just call somewhere else"

I use to and found I was on the phone FOREVER. I just tell people to come in and take a salon tour and we will find the package that would be the most cost effective for you.

tell them you have a client in front of you and guide them to your website! or give them a quick speech of how you have x levels and the prices start at X and go to Y. then say sorry but the best thing to do is come in and ill explain everything in detail! my salon is very busy right now.

i try to give prices if possible not everyone is price shopping some never been tanning before and are cluless!

I tell them we have four levels of tanning and to come in and see what they like the best.

We publish our prices in our web page. When people call, we tell them to visit the page for all the information they need. Keep in mind, we have about 25 salons in this small town so my thought is if you don't give them something when they call, they'll just call someone else and forget about us. Our web page has done well for us I think.

i try not to give prices... you want the customer to come in and to see your salon and see how great the beds and the salon are... sometimes though they keep pushing. The pricing can be confusing over the phone so i explain that to them and i give them a brief description of some of the pricing. i tell them that if they take the time to come into the salon and look around i will make it worth their while. They usually like that and decide to come on in...

Same here clubby. I ask general questions to see if they are looking short term or long term and I ask them if they have web access and direct them to my site. I also encourage them to print off the special offers page and visit the salon. Most do. Our websitie traffic has quadrupled since February. I just changed my site to Four Seasons (my salon site.com) and it is cheaper than my previous, check hem out
