Re: job reference

IMO, it's best to call when asking questions. One can sometimes hear things in their tone of voice. People are less likely to write their true feelings down. Leave a record. I think you can ask most anything you want within reason. How was their job performance? Would you consider this person for re-hire? If not, can you tell me why (listen to the answer to this question. It will speak volumes).
Sometimes it's they things they don't say that gives you insite.

Re: job reference

I just did a search and came up with a form that has several questions to ask a previous employer. Hope it helps.

Re: job reference

you cannot ask if they have children. but you can ask if there is any reason they cannot make it to work.

Re: job reference

Can you ask their DOB? I though you could only ask if they were over 16, 18, 21 depending on the job.

Re: job reference

I dont have a standard form, or standard questions. I tell them to make up their own application, and I also tell them to write a small paragraph why they would be good at this job. It works great. It givers me a chanse to see whats in their head. Most end up giving you more info this way.
