Here's something that I hadn't thought about before. I had an A/C contractor look at the new space and they said that a drop ceilling with insulation above it will keep heat from getting in the salon. He said most retail buildings have a metal roof and are usually very thin. In the summer they get very hot and allow heat to pass thru. If you have an open ceilling all this heat gets directly in. He said a ceilling with insulation will prevent this heat from getting in. The heat will stay above.

So, which is better? A insulated ceilling, or a open ceilling?
