I start bed cleaners @ $6.15 for thirty days. Then if alls good, they can give atour , bed s/u's and basic lotion explaination they move to $6.50. Front counter $7.00 after certified (within 30 days max) to $7.50 + 3.5% commision on all pkg.s and 10% on all retail. We do have some girls that have been with us the whole 7.5 years and make between 8 & 11 p/hr. Oh also, to be moved to 7.50 they must also be Hawaiian Bronze certified ( my own 50 question test and review.)

We have one girl too (we're also small and family works the rest), and she gets $7.50/hr plus free tanning and free lotion use; she's very flexible as far as us needing her to switch hours or whatnot and the customers all love her.

Around here employees all start out between minimum wage & 6. plus the counter help gets 10% lotion commission.

The busier salons have a hard time getting & keeping help,too.

Anyone trade tanning for bed cleaners when its busy. I have a few high school girls that are homeschooling, but tan once or twice a week. Thought it might be helpful on Fridays to have some help with towels and other chores

I start out at $6.00 plus commission. Then once Smart Tan Cert they move to $7.00 and when I feel they can handle being left alone and handle all situations $8.00 plus commissions. I have one employee who gets $9.50 hr. but she's worked for us for 9 years. Then I have two at $8.00 and then 3 at $6.00. All get free tanning and unlimited use of lotions. Bed wipers get free tanning and $5.00 hr. I work the salon from 9-4 mon - fri and occasionally weekends when proms come around. The rest of the hours are employees. I have applications coming in all the time that want to start out at $7.50 or $8.00 hr. I tell them to go to McDonalds. They don't understand that by FREE Tanning and Lotions that is part of the compensation as well as the hourly rate.

ok off subject a little the drunk tanners is what I am going on here...

I just spent almost 2 weeks in Key West I spent alot of drunk nites on Duval street and I am BROKE... why? because the stores are located on a street full of bars where you can walk around with a drink in your hand... the stores are also open as late as the bars... at least till 3 am..... and there is a strick no return policy....my thinking/ advice. Open a salon on a street with alot of bars be open till 30 minutes past bar closings, in force the strict no refund policy so when they wake up and realize they bought a GREAT DEAL of 6 months of tanning, tanning lotion, after lotion, eye wear, nail savers, lip balm, stickers and whatever else you got.... they can't return it! Drunks are the best buyers.... drunks on vacation even better.... add a no return policy and you are in!!!!!!!!!!!

I pay $5.50 for part time bed cleaners plus free tannning and salon cost on lotions. $6.00 for my 2 daughters that work 15 to 20 hours/wk. (Obviously they tan free, live rent free free lotion, free car insurance, free food, etc)

I have one daytime person that works 40+ hr/wk and gets $6.50, and does spray tans.

I do not ever schedule myself to work, just show up unannounced. they never know when I am coming or when I am leaving.
