Re: Marketing advice Needed
Always remember when markerting with anything... on average you only receive 1% of what you send out.
Refer a friend get a free tan works great for us. We place it on the back of our business cards and have them out on the desk so when they come in we ask them, "Do you have a business card with our hours on it?" "Here you are, and if you look on the back you can get a free tan by just referring someone here!" So you give them something that works both for your hours and to get new clients in! We do fliers around the area, postcards to current clients, banners (banners work great! Probably the best for us! We are on a very busy street and the banner brings in a lot of new clients for us), we are in a coupon book that gets distributed to more then 40k households in our area. Think of what you get in the mail from your home. Think of what you pay attention to when you look through your mail. Get ideas from other salon coupons yo may get or just other coupons. Look at what catches you eye and work up a coupon from there. People normally look at something that has pictures first. Keep your coupons crisp and clean and eye catching. Too busy and people will not take the time out to look at the coupons. Don't do too much... maybe 1 free tan for new clients, $10 off a monthly, and 1 more coupon for maybe a retail product. There's a lot to marketing, but once you start putting ideas together you think of even more ideas. Keep a book just for marketing so you can see what worked and what didn't for you. Hope this helps! Good luck and have fun with it! I think it's my favorite part about my job. To see what I did bringing in new clients makes me feel like I'm doing a good job. |

Re: Marketing advice Needed
Hands down our best dollar spent is on a road side bold sign. We get the best response from it. Sometimes we don't even advertise specials just our regular prices and people come in asking about it.

Re: Marketing advice Needed
I seem to get my best response from Clipper magazine. It can be pricey but it is well worth it. I track all coupons that I have ever done and Clipper is by far the best. The worst were grocery receipt backs and the local newspaper believe it or not. Try negotiating a good deal with your yellow page ad also. We have 3 phone directories that I advertise in.......you kind of have to for year round exposure. Let's face it, people do hang onto their phone books for the whole year, if not longer.
