Re: employee quit, when should my key be returned?
No matter who the employee, I change the locks that day. Even if it is someone I trust completely. Locksmiths work 24 hours a day. As someone mention, the employees can easily make copies of the key before they turned it in.
Even though we also delete their alarm code, we still pay to change the lock. If the lock was not change and they made a copy of the key, they could get in and do alot of damage in a few minutes before the police would repsond to the alarm. Someone said the police could be there in 60 seconds, that sounds great. But around here, I am geussing it would be 15 to 30 minutes. The combination lock sounds like a great idea, to avoid the expense of chaning the locks. We normally have to change the locks twice a year. So, that's not too bad. Our locksmith charges $60 plus $2 per key made. |
