Geez what's your deal. I'm simply asking if anyone deletes clients from their database.... FROM 7 YEARS AGO. Why would you want to keep records from 7 years ago....you can even throw away old tax returns after SEVEN years

Just trying to prevent you from making a mistake by deleting a valuable "asset" to your business. As genius mentioned, delete them all then.

Before you delete any of your customers, you should look at each one individually and determine why they have not been back in the salon. If you have a phone number, and they are local, you can call them so see if they are still around and offer them a special over the phone. If they are not at that # or address, I would say you could delete them especially if it is from 7 years ago. I don't think it is necessary to keep them if they are not around and they tanned 7 years ago. I think you should check the status of each client that has not been back and see why they have not returned and go from there.

We keep everyone too neon. I can't imagine getting rid of our records....I'll keep mine forever!....as for mailings, after shortening your date search, then just pick the ones you want to hand write the cards to. It's a little more work than if you emptied out old clients from the data base, but I would think it was worth being able to have all my info if needed.

Thanks Tanzenite, yes that's what I have been doing. I haven't really deleted that many yet....just ones from say, 1998 who tanned one time and they live in another state. I have definately been reviewing each client individually. I was just wondering if anyone else did the same. My client database is over 8300 right now.

It's a lot less work just to keep them in, than to start searching for names to delete. Text takes very little space on your hard-drive anyway.
