Agreed Neon...we concentrate on the monthly average more so than a weekly. Really one bad week here or there is gonna happen, we just look to see that monthly and yearly sales are improving. (or this year, maintaining)

Well, considering it happens to be when 3rd quarter taxes are due....not to mention rent, payroll, etc... I'd say the last week in October is pretty important to me.

I'm not arguing the fact that rent would be due at the first of Nov. and that quarterly taxes and payroll's would be due as well. Maybe I am misunderstanding your question. I thought you were asking if anyone else thought that the last week in October was the slowest of the year! I was simply stating that I don't concentrate so much on totals for each individual week as much as I worry about monthy sales. I can see that you take that weeks sales very seriously, and that's fine. For me, it's the whole picture that works for me. As far as rents, payroll, and taxes go....the minute I pay rent, I'm working on the next months payment. Taxes, when I do payroll, we take the employees taxes and set that aside knowing we will be sending it in. I've always looked back at past sales and quarterly tax payments to "ball park" what is going to be needed for the next quarterly payment, and plan accordingly. I in no way was saying that the final weeks sales are not important, I was just saying that I look at my sales in a different manner is all.

Our slowest two months are about to hit us. This last week in October was the last week of Homecomings in our area. While Homecomings are in high swing, we still average about 90 a day. Some days a little less. Starting November and throughout December we'll see a drastic decrease from 70's to around 45 and 50 per day in December. Hopefully, we'll be moving to a new salon in December, so that will give us the slowest month to move, and get ready for busy season! Last year was our first busy season to own the salon. We ran around 300 a day in February, March, April and a part of May.
