I was going to close an hour early back in summer time and a handful complained so I kept my hours the same. Well guess what. The last hour brings maybe 1 tanner. I committed to keep the same hours so I will keep them.

I cut back 1 hour in the morning and one in the evening. No complaints either, I may just keep these year round. The Mall I am in opens at 10 and closes at 7, I stay open until 8 weekdays. Sat/Sun I actually extended hours from 11-5 to 10-6 both days. Again, I think I am keeping these year round.

We increased our hours after labor day. Open at 7:00 am (1 hour earlier) and Saturdays added an hour in the am and in the pm - now 9:00 am. to 4:00 pm. We close at 8pm other nights. Where we are they roll up the streets about 7:30 p.m. except for eateries. I should have added a coffee/donut shop when the slow season came on us. Hey, maybe that would be a good tanning salon combination - Eat, Tan & Be Happy!

It seems like this time of year people have a hard time adjusting to it getting dark earlier. The earlier it gets dark, the fewer people I have walking through the doors. After winter sets in and they are used to earlier darkness, it seems like they come in later but right now..DEAD!!

So not to confuse my clients and the competition I always open at 10 monday thru saturday. Close 8 pm monday-thursday, 6 on friday, 3 on saturday after the 4th of july-december...... Close at 9 pm monday-thursday, 8 on friday and 4 on saturday. January-June. I am closed on Sundays and busy one day and slow the next. I work all the hours myself plus my nail clients are spread though out my days also. Funny how it never fails that I am busiest when I have a nail client. Tanning and nail clients see me doing all the work and happy that they are there. Everyone for the most part are understanding. Thank god for my regulars, they are awsome.
Cheers! |

Jan - July Hours:
M-F 9a-9p Sat 9a-6p Sun 12n-4p Aug - Dec Hours M-F 10a-8p Sat 10a-6p Sun 12n-4p As someone stated, need to do what works for your area. I'm the only salon open 7days a week so for this small town, I don't lose anyone. I asked my clients about what they thought before I made the changes and they had no problems with it. |

I do not change my hours at all. Too confusing for customers and my hours from Monday-Saturday are always the same. Sundays are only a 2 hour difference so everyone knows what time we are here. Yes during the slow months not as many clients come in, however, gives you time to really get your salon sparkling for season and to get those extra things done off your to do list.

i cut my hours back two months ago. I was staying open till 9pm with maybe 2 tanners between 6-9pm. I didn't see it to be worth it while running two A/C units and sitting at the salon 11 hours a day. I close at 6 now. With school/college starting.. schedules will be tight for tanners. I am hoping to hire a reliable person to work evenings, so that I can stay open late again. I have already gone through 3 people! Just for laughs...on the third day of training the second person...i tell him to start tanning in the beds and low & behold!!!!!...He tells me that tanning is against his beliefs! What do ya do to find an employee! third person called in on her first day!! I sure don't want to stay here for 11 hours and at the same time spending money to hire someone sucks!! What gives? If your not growing...your going!
