With so many different makes and models how do you make your distiction on what bed you would put in your salon if you were to add a new one?
Reason I am asking is that I currently have 4 beds and 2 standups, and would like to add a spray booth and maybe a newer bed.

FYE I have a Montego Bay Viper (6400watts), a Montego Bay Torpical w/ frosted Acrylic, 2 Montego Bay 3000's, would like to replace one, and 2 Hex II stand ups, would like to replace one of those to and put a spray booth in its place.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Here's my 2 cents. Just dump the Tropical. It should sell pretty fast for you and I'm not even gonna guess what you should sell it for. (Ok, I'll guess. Start out 50% lower than someone could buy one brand new and negotiate from there.) Mystic Tan is my pick for a sunless unit. There are too many reasons to list here. You'll need a room that's at least 7'x8' though, so you may need to move some units around or remodel a little. Good luck.

You will also need plumbing - does mystic make a model that is self contained and doesnt need plumbing?

Not to my knowledge, but I know absolutely nothing about their newest model. It may be plumbing free. I prefer the rectangular models. I believe the new one is called the "My Myst". I heard the debuted it in Vegas. Didn't see anything on their web site regarding it.

If you want the name recognition, buy Mystic, there advertising budget is better than their product. IMO. Test drive as many units as you can before buying by name alone.

I second that. Always a good idea to do your due dilligence before making such an expensive, business impacting decision. Not to talk over Neon here; the reasons I recommend the Mystic are these:
#1 - (And this is #1 on purpose) Strong brand name recognition in the US.
#2 - Consistent results, good customer satisfaction rate (for my market)
#3 - Minimal mechanical problems (in my experience)
#4 - Great technical support
#5 - Mystic Tan marketed the booth to the nation, and lists me on their web locator for free

I don't know why spray tanning didn't take off in Canada like it did in the US. That's a good question. Good luck. Hope this helped. ~It's a kinder, gentler Belvedere~

#1- Who cares, If I had the worst product in the world, and an immense ad budget, I could sell lawnmowers in the Arctic
#2- We have one locally, and it's been bombing with the orange thing happening
#3- You've been one of the lucky ones
#4- That's not what I have been reading in a few forums
#5- A free listing that costs them nothing but benefits them, woo hoo.

And finally, that booth costs $60,000 in Canada, yeah I want one so I can eek out $19.99 a session.

Yup! That's what it cost our local Jamaican Gift Shop to have there's bought, delivered and installed. A friggin' gift shop?? Jamaican?? Run by Jamaicans (not that there's anything wrong with that). Even the few hair and nail shops with "airbrushing sunless" are not doing well from I understand.

Make sure that they will be there for you after the sale. Service is important to me & warranty. Like Neon said go try them yourself , contact Salon that have them & see what the feed back is.
