right now we have paper towel machines in each room...to clean the bed before and after...we dont have any cloth towels for us or the customers...right now 12 big rolls is costing us about 70 bucks...(i personally think thats alot) would it be better for us to use cloth towels? would it be cheaper? i have heard about towel services who drops off clean towels then picks up the dirty ones and wash's them and what not...or should we just buy towels ourself? but then where do we wash them? etc. or should we just stick with the paper towels? thanks

That sounds extremely high to me. I use good paper towels and I think they cost me like $6-$7 for a 8 pack. I have hand towels that i use also, and I buy them and wash them myself. I can't afford to pay someone to do it for me. I am a small salon though, if I had 20 or so beds that would be different.

We have always used cloth towels and we installed a washer and dryer in the salon, It saved us money in paper towel costs, and it keeps the employees busy during slow times.

I would be afraid that the paper towels would end up ruining the acrylic after a while.

Paper towels dont hurt acryllic at all. BUT, they are a pain to keep buying... (I was going to WalMart 2-3 times per week- buying 5 or 6 Eight packs of them too). I recently found a company in my State called Cintas. They come in, install these REALLY NICE dispensers that go in each room. They come weekly, and refill all of the dispencers as well as leave me extra rolls of paper towels. It costs a little bit less than the regular paper towel rolls did, and its soooo much easier!! It is also much more efficient and sanitary. Look for a commercial paper supply company near you- YOU WONT REGRET IT!!

I have two salons, 8 units and 9 units in size. I use cloth towels to clean the units after each client tans. I wash the cloth towels myself, two loads twice a week during the busy season. I put paper towels in the rooms for clients to use. 18 rolls per week during the busy season.

I disagree, take that same super soft paper towel and run it over your face as many times as you would each day on our acrylics...... Bet your face will be raw. It's wood people, and it will and does fine sand your acrylics. Next time you have your fairly new acrylic out for cleaning, have a look at it at an angle. You will be amazed at the damage that you have done with paper towels.........

not concerned about the acyrlics, im concerned about whats going to be better in the long run and also whats gonna save money...we do have nicer dispencers in the rooms like jkonturas was talking about and we dont buy cheap paper towels from walmart, target, etc. they are huge rolls that are made specific for the holders..a box of like 6 costs us approx 35 bucks...to me that seems like alot...to me it seems like at first yes a washer and dryer is going to cost alot along with soap and bleach but seems like it might be cheaper in the long run? not really sure though thats why i asked on here...im 100% positive that if we get into our new location we are going to do cloth towels but im just not sure if switching over at our current salon would be worth it...thanks for the replys..
