First, everyone is right... Heat doesn't tan the customer. A customer who is comfortable while they are tanning will get just as much color as someone who leaves pools of sweat behind. The sweathog will probably have more red color due to being hot. Of course, this is deceiving because many tanners equate the color red or being burned with getting a lot of color.
Second, a UV meter is only meant to be used as a reference. A brand new bulb without an acrylic that reads a 9 doesn't necessarily tan better than a bulb that reads a 5. A UV meter is only meant to tell you when to change your bulbs. And it only works when you establish a baseline everytime you change your bulbs. For example, when you put new bulbs in your bed, take a base line reading without the acrylic. Say it reads 20. If you are going to change your bulbs when it reaches 50% of it's original reading, you need to periodically take a meter reading without the acrylic. When it reaches 10, you know it's time to change the bulbs. So, you can't compare bulbs using a UV meter. |

Okay, now Im gonna get involved.... I-) First of all, EVERYONES READINGS ARE GONNA BE DIFFERENT!! With that said, the Solar Meter you are using, is the same one everyone else has. For a regular 20 minute bed (28/100 watt lamps)- BRAND NEW you will get a reading of between 18-22. Once you have that reading of the brand new lamps, you watch it decrease as time go's on..... The General Rule is, once the meter reading is down to only 70% of its original reading- its time to change the lamps. So if it is a reading of 20 at the brand new point, when they drop down to 14 you need to change them. Now you want my opinion, you change them once they are 16-17 if you are a good salon. If those lamps you have are reading 8-10...... LMFAO... you need to change them ASAP!! JMHO
