I am thinking this has to be a huge trust issue between employees/owner/manager.....but how can you keeo track of whether or not your employees are letting people tan for free.....I mean when I am not there how do I know my employees are not letting friends, etc. tan without charging them....I have all my clients sign in but is there a better way to keep track....I was thinking about tracking the hours on the beds? Is that a good idea?
Any advice appreciated. |

Ya track the timers. I have set it up so that they get read every morning before I start the day, and then I check it against the schedule sheet. The difference between this morning and yesterday morning better equal the total of the sessions on the schedule sheet (plus the bed warming).

computer- software- I tell my employees that they can't sneeze without me knowing. I also occasionally take my detailed reports and ask them questions about specific sales, or times... they see the detail of what I can look at... I have busted a couple employees- give them 1 warning- then they're OUT! Usually, the warning works or they just quit.

We too track everything with our computer system. It tells every move made during the day. Just this week I discovered (well actually hubby) that our employee has eveidently watched over my shoulder and figured out my manager number. She was attempting to access everything. I think it was more of a curiousity thing. I changed my manager # and explained to her that is not acceptable. I set their security for a reason and if it ever happens again that is it! I seriously considered terminating her. Other than this she has been a "great" employee. She is one that clients compliment, constantly cleaning, selling, getting people in the door. Shoot she even comes in on her own time and steam cleans carpets.

The software will only be useful if it is also used to start the beds/timers. Otherwise tans can be given without using the computer at all. Using the timers to track the minutes used is a good idea.

Yes, but that could come back to bite them if someone else comes into tan and finds out their not allowed to tan as the 24 hour rule blocks them out. I guess thats where the cameras come in... One reason is switched to TanTrack software as it tracked the bed usage.
