Those of you who require employees to sell lotion, how do you figure what is the "required amount"?? I encourage sales, but I think I need to have more guidelines and they need to have a goal to work toward. Is this even a question that can be answered with this little info???

my boss doesn't set a limit but i try and sell as much as i can. not only for the commision but the more lotion we sell the better the shops income and the happier the owners are. i tell everyone about how well a lotion works and 10 times out of 12 i actually convince them to at least buy a packet. everyones happy.

We require our employees to move $200 in lotion in a month. That is very low. But part of their job is to move products. They are paid in commissions in what they do sell and the first thing that we look at come raise time is if they are moving products. They can give themselves a raise if they are moving the product, if they aren't doing their job and not moving product they don't get a wage increase.

We require a minimum of $500 per month and other requirements before commission is paid. We do not pay commission if they have had unsatisfactory job performance during the month. Learned that later in the game. There is no way they are getting commission if they don't show up to work or come in late. Nothing is a given, but their hourly wage. All policies can change at any time. We need to protect ourselves from the TAKE, TAKE, TAKE mentality.
Our % goal is 30% product sales from total sales. _________________ [ This Message was edited by: sbtan on 2005-01-04 15:49 ] |

I tell my employees thatif they do not sell I cannot pay them. I cannot force them to sell a certain amount. I encourage them to do the best they can. Of course, If I have a no sale clerk for a couple of months, then we look for her replacement.

I just could not put a dollar figure on what I want them to do. I think I am going to do something like this - I will pay commissions to the person or persons who sell more lotion than I do. I am at the salon less hours in a day than they are but I still sell more every month. or I may just have a set amount to pay them if they sell more than I sell.

We require employees to sell a minimum of $1.50 LPPA to retain employement.
Commissions are paid on product sales but total PPA must be over $4.50 and are paid a different percentage depending on total PPA |

We have goals each month..if they do not hit their goals as a team...they do not get a bonus..or percentage of their individual sales....they make it as a team but receive their own bonus on their sales....if you are just starting out and its your first year...we take our projections...and take them down...and then figure 30% for lotion sales...we expect 30% period...
