How smart are your competitors?
If you raise prices will they be smart enough
to match you ?
Is your store so much greater that they have to under cut ?

I personally think pricing should reflect the quality of the salon.

Nope, bob they gave up around here. ROCK BOTTOM PRICES, 15 yearold managers, owners no where to be found, $20 monthly unlimited (EFT is NOT a good thing for a 15year old to be trying to sell to MASSHOLES if they DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!!!)

I think (hope is more like it) that people are NOT buying into the cheapo tanning specials anymore. I got people moving into town from big cities that are LOVING the prices cause they are USED TO paying $20/tan. I don't think that my comp is too worried about me which is GREAT cause she wants the kids, I want their parents and I'm getting them.

As long as their staff makes PAYING CUSTOMERS WAIT while they LOTION UP INFRONT OF THEM AND proceed into the tanning booth THE CUSTOMER is waiting for I'll be all right.

(can you BELIEVE that? I mean, watching young hos lube up is nice but these fools got better things to do, as in tan in MY place).

PS, that 15 year old manager tans in my place when she's FORCED to pay for her tanning.

quality.

That is an interesting question... I am planning on putting in new beds in my salon. I'll advertise so everyone in the area knows. However, the salon down the street still has old units and she keeps a steady flow of customers. Do I hold at higher prices because of the newer equipment or do I stay in lever with her?

Will higher prices drive customers to her? Possibly, but will the new of newer equipment bring them to me? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

My competition is STUPID. I'm laughing all the way to the bank.

When is more tanners bad? I truly believe if I price myself a little higher I will get the better customer. And also not have to work as hard to make it. I personally would not tan at a salon where I had to wade thru the teeny boppers.

The local price is "Unlimited Month for $35". Can I go higher without driving away the customer?

"Unlimited" packages for all but the intro beds NEED to be phased out. It's STUPID and doesn't really make any sense if the beds are kept at 100%. I ALWAYS tell people that an unlimited MEANS ABOUT 10-15 visits depending on how their skin is reacting NOT 30 tanning visits. The people who "don't get it" probably "don't get" many things in life and that's too bad FOR THEM. Ignorance HAS TO BE PUNISHED cause it's just TOO COOL to be an F UP these days.

That price is for a base bed. I didn't tell you the best part. They advertise a one year unlimited membership for $99. Membership into what, I am not sure.

Ramcat, if you are selling Lexus and a Hyndai dealer opens up next to you, are you gunna be afraid and lower your prices OR use it against them? OF course it's cheap, you have to go twice as much to get the same color over here. NOW, what's a better deal?

I'll stick to my BMW. Had a Lexus. You can keep the Hundai though.
