We have been changing the starters for the bulbs every other bulb change which we do at 700 hrs. I have recently been told that we should be changing the starters every bulb change. Does anyone do this and do you really notice a difference?

That's stupid. If you are talking 160watt setups you should be using electric starters that last 10years (supposedly). Regular starters in the 100watt setups should last 2-3000hrs. Everytime is overkill.

Good to hear that, then changing every other bulb change is fine in the 100 watt units. Thanks for the input!

Go electronic. last for years plus less blackened ends. my lamps have 750 hrs look and tan as almost new. I expect them to have 30% more service life than before.

Change your starters every 400 hours. No do not do that. Not needed. I change my starters every time I put in new lamps. They really don't need it but I do it anyway because they are so cheap and that way I do not have to mess with it during season when it is crazy.

I have a bes that mostlikely is using the stock starters and this bed is WELL OVER 10K hours. So Far 1 have given me a problem. Took about 25seconds to fix the problem. If you can rip off the acryllic in under a minute then just change them as needed.
