I myself need to figure something out for commission/bonus. I haven't hired any new employees yet because I cannot afford them... How long before season starts do you think it is good to hire people... I would think they would need a good week of training, then on the job training while they work also.

Hire one ASAP. Not only do you need to train them in all aspects of your salon, but it helps you get to know them before they have all your cash in their hand when they are working. I'd say start them out slow with only a few hours a week, then add hours as it gets busier. I have one girl who now only works about 5 hours a week, but I have her when I need her and I can "tweek" her skills before it gets busy and she loses sales because she is not strong.
